Talking NA`s Axial G6 Recon

Hi All,

Here sits my first Axial build.

I got the box in and it just sat there for a month before I had any time to look at it, all the RC time I've had this summer was spent driving the Summit v2 and it rocks. Cant wait to make this rig bulletproof too.

Once I had a chance to open it up and inspect what I was working with I was excited to see how in depth the kit build is.

First thing I did for this build was assemble the wheels and tires, I skipped the factory EWR glue on wheels included and went with Axial beadlocks.

The only upgrade I have done so far are the Axial aluminum c-hubs, knuckles and lockouts, one knuckle came machined wrong and was super tight n bindy. But they are sending me a new set once they are back instock @ Axial.

The body had some ugly scaring on the exterior, a bunch of "Falken" blue/green paint from mold reside on my clear inner windshield :-(

It must have occurred from pressing prepainted lexan sheets prior to some clear, minor qc issue. But once again, they are sending me a new set once they are back instock @ Axial.

Doing a perfect job on bodies are hard to do as a beginner painter, I will learn over time but it turned out much better than my first paint job last year

Very happy with the green color, assembling Leo in pretty easy too. I am looking forward to two more custom body projects next month.

Looks good.

Quick question about the lockouts -- Did you use AX30494? Did you have to also then use AX30421 straight axle?

Thanks.

Thanks bud, just a start and lots to go. Now the hard part... Electronics.

Yes I used the AX30494, I used the standard dogbones provided in my kit which I believe are AX30421.

Oh so the rear axle in the G6 kit [i]IS[/] the AX30421 straight axle?

Confusing because Axial's site says for the lockouts (P/N: AX30494) that they "require" also P/N: AX30421....leading me to believe I'd have to buy it additionally.

As for electronics, definitely can be the hard part simply due to all of the choices out there. I was thinking HiTec HS-5646WP waterproof servo (only $50.48+free shipping from amazon.ca but currently out of stock...from other vendors easily double yet available), Castle Sidewinder 3 and I was looking at a Holmes Hobbies motor but the shipping to Canada is crazy (~$27USD...confirmed in a recent email from them). Hard to stomach when the motor is only $35-$65.

I believe that is correct on the axle.

Im looking at a savox servo with FXR combo or RS ROC412 combo or both lol. Probably a trx 5ch/4-ch rx and tx.

I will be adding another battery tray to mount another waterproof electronics box.
