r2 dig trans with 55t motor

I just picked up an scx10 with a bunch of mods and one of the mods it has is an r2 dig trans. I like how slow it is for crawling and the dig function works great but it doesnt have enough wheel speed for bumping up rocks and steep ledges.

my question is, if i were to install a 35t motor would it still have mild crawling manners? or should i just intall a bigger pinion? i dont want to lose any of the slow crawling capabilities.

Re: r2 dig trans with 55t motor

35T on 3S would be great wheelspeed...but good grunt down low too.
I run a 27T on 2/3S...depends where i'm at....and I have plenty of grunt in the rocks and enough wheelspeed for hill climbs and trailin. I trail more then play in rock pits though

All depends on your style...35T on 3S is a good equal mix though

I'd first check the pinion tooth count
and see if that could be bumped up.
A coupla teeth can offer a noticeable difference.
Will it be enough for you ?
You'll have to do it... to know more.

The 55T wouldn't suffer as much with taller gearing...
whereas the 35T motor gearing might be more critical.
