What are you wanting to do? make it turn really sharp?
then a dig would be the best choice,
a steering mod would be your second best choice...

If you want the truck to do things that can only be accomplished by a dig then that is your answer.

You could also work on sharper steering and/or OD/UD gears in the axles.

Yes, it would be useful on a scaler if what you are doing benefits from tight cornering or steel slopes.

Definitely worth the little bit of added weight up high in my opinion. I feel that it gives far more advantage than disadvantage, at least for my needs.

a dig can make all the difference in making it over a climb/ ledge and turning over backwards because the rear tires had too much traction.

I plan to put a wraith transmission case and dig unit on my G6 kit when it all comes in. dig is always fun to play with too even if it isnt always needed!

Dig units are great, I run one on my 2.2, but they are not allowed in scale comps. If your not worried about points and just in it for the fun of it your good. Even if you have one and want to scale for points, all you have to do is disable it. To be honest, the benefits out way the added weight.

We've got a relaxed club this year so I put dig on my 1.9 scaler to compete in the 2.2 pro class.
Didn't work out too well so I removed it.
Wanna try rear steer next.

Hoping the rules open up to 1 3rd channel accesory next year.
Winch, dig, or rear steer would make scalers alot more scale imo.

On my 1.9 wraith I run over under gears and dig. Never know when you're going to need every bit of steering out of the rig.

Dig is unnecessary on scalers, just run OD/UD gears and get your steering setup properly. So far I just have OD on my SCX, UD gears spare set in toolbox. That's all the steering I've ever needed on it, my little 1.9 Ripsaws rub lower links at full lock (limited the throw via tx) and my SCX goes almost anywhere I point it. I want some challenge on trail obstacles, if it goes up too easy, waht's the point?

In the past I have run a dig in a wraith in the normal fashion and then swapped into my scx10 flipped around to give rwd or 4wd, I personally don't see the point having a normal dig style in a scaler type rig. Since changing my scx10 to a forward trans with T-case, the dig trans has been in the draw although it will likely be going in my 1.9 u4 build for rwd fun
