Default HD's back at it and doing it right this time G6 build

After selling my Honcho kit about 2 years ago along with pretty much most of my fun crawlers, I'd missed them ever since! So, I got a good deal on a new G6 kit that I plan to build. My intentions are to have a capable, beefy, and a fairly scale rig. I still have my Favorite motor combo of all time that I freshened up, a Holmes Hobbies torque master pro 30t motor and the BR-XL esc. A simply perfect mix of speed, and low end grunt for some crawling.

So I'm waiting on my kit to show up, and these are the parts I have ready to go in so far!

HH BR-XL esc
HH TM pro 30t motor
Futaba BLS152 servo
my same old RC4wd 4ch radio/ rx (works pretty well)
some no slop lockers
VP high steer knuckles for some clearance
and some Spaz stik color changing paint or something like that

some plans are-
move battery holder lower
wraith transmission case and dig unit
some sort of good 1.9 tires and bead locks
CVD axles
MIP drive shafts(if the new wild boar shafts dont hold)
and beef where needed when parts break

came in last night and I got this far. Lowered the battery tray, and started paint. Sadly the VP high steer knuckles dont clear the tires, so I ordered some other alum. knuckles. Just waiting for parts to do the transmission.

You can use Traxxas wide hexes to gain clearance for the tires or do what I did...I bought Vanquish Method wheels and used wider wheel hubs to give me the space. Gear Head is also making great wheels and new wheel hubs to offset for this too. Though, it's MUCH more expensive to buy new wheels/tires plus with the VP 8degree knuckles you would also need new steering link and tie-rod.

I looked and how I lifted the link on the stock knuckles is nearly the same height as the VP knuckles so I'm not gonna bother with new wheels.

very few action shots, had some temp. wheels/ tires on until my parts show up. definitely needs some weight in the wheels, alum. upper links, and 4-link trusses. Other wise it crawls well.

Parts! Axial dig tranny, alum C-hubs and knuckles, axial CVD's, steel internal tranny gears, wheels, tires, alum. upper links, HD gear sets and no-slop lockers, low CG battery tray, and white springs for the rear shocks! Also got it all installed this weekend!

They're 1.9's at 4.6in tall I feel that is about perfect for this rig.

I also noted at the fun run that they were climbing a few places that the pitbull rock beats werent going, and cleaned out moist soil MUCH better.

Yea the only softer springs are the whites, then softer yet is red. I think just the white springs on the rear with the factory green's up front is a good combo since most of my weight is up front. I can flex until my 4-link truss hits the frame in the rear and the steering link up front hits under its own weight.

It's been quite a while since I've updated the thread to match the build! Lots more parts and more wear and tear!

BPC rock sliders and heavy rock rings
CI 2-stage foams
RC4WD Warn winch and bumper
RCrock armor rear bumper
chopped some of the cage out and other free mods
