Talking Scx10 project. Need opinions

Hey

So I'm about to make the jump to an scx10 dingo kit. My plan is to use everything stock to start out and replace whatever becomes weak points. I have a good servo and radio system, the question is the motor.
I have a castle 2400kv 4 pole brushless motor and a MMP speed control, both with fans. I am able to program it via the esc and through my spektrum DX4S to be as smooth as possible. What are your opinions of this setup and what kind of gearing should I be running on 2s and 3s? The more help the better.

So I picked it up today and got this far in the build. Anyone else notice with stock axels that when you get to a certain point the get tighter then loosen up as you keep turning.. Then repeat? It's like one spot that is tighter on the diff.
Opinions?

Some do that, and the danger is not in the tight spot, that will break-in over time. The danger is in the loose spot because that means that the gear teeth are not fully engaged, that's what leads to breakage. Search some of the articles on using shims, but I would let it break-in first. About the engine, Castle makes some fine engines, I run them on my shortcourse buggys, but they aren't sensored. The MMP accepts a sensor input, though, so you are good there. See how it works for you first, but it may cog real bad at low throttle, which is where a crawler is at most of the time. It don't matter in shortcourse because the throttle is either on or off, but cogging with a 3S or 4S battery can lead to premature breakage, also its not very scale because 1:1 trucks don't do that unless they're in real trouble.

Cogging is like hesitation, sputtering throttle at low speeds almost as if drivetrain in bind! The non Sensored motors are designed for racing(go fast)applications. The Sensored motors have very smooth low end throttle! It's almost impossible to crawl with anything that's not Sensored! The esc is what I run along with 3100-3300kv Sensored motors with great results...

Some pics of running it.
Ordered some stuff...
-4" rc4wd light bar.
-Proline F250 cab.
-axial roll cage.
-STRC 3 and 4 link parts. 4 link on back
Going to run the stock 3 link up front till I can shorten up the motor... What is a good reccomendation? Needs to be capable of 3S and easy on the wallet.

Anything else worth doing?
I'd like to make some sort of sleek protection piece for the front and rear diffs.. Ideas?

Castle 2400kv.
Would a turnigy track star 2100kv sensored motor be a good option?

You should switch the battery positions...you have too much weight in the back. Put the main battery where the esc is now, and move the esc to right behind the trans on it's own bracket.

Default Scx10 project. Need opinions

That's what I'm going to have to do since I have a proline f250 coming and the rear roll cage.

That's in the works. Hopefully I can finish it up before the winter time. Don't plan on doing too much snow driving. Gets to chilly here in Canada.

Blue bird metal gear waterproof. Forget the model. Cheap from hobbyking and running strong for 2 years

If you have not already put steel gears in the trans you might want to look into that. Just my 2 cents

Have not done that. I know it's a good idea and will eventually need to happen. Any specific brand?
