Default ae-5 disable drag brake

Hey all, 1st post and new owner of a scx10. I have the newer ae-5 esc and am wondering how to shut off the drag brake entirely. I've used the jumper to set it to 50%, tried removing it and the brake seems to default to 100%. Might not even be possible but if someone knows and wants to fill me in, thanks in advance!

I'm not 100% sure, but I think you should be able to do it with a castle link.

But here is my question to you; why?? drag brake is a huge help while crawling, it can keep you in a position rather than roll back down a hill.

when I'm not crawling the front tires want to bite in more than I like when I let off. I've been driving at speed more than crawling

set it at 50% and learn to roll off the throttle.

I've got the Holmes Hold on with my BR-xl speed control and it'll pull the rear tires off the ground from a dead stop, but I have no problem keeping them down even when doing WOT runs. Its all in the trigger finger!

Yup, that's what I've been doing and I've gotten used to it for the most part. Would be nice to disable/reprogram it so I could use it in something else like my vintage midnight pumpkin too. Thanks for the help!

You will need castle link or you can set the values with the remote through manual programming.

The ae-5 speed control is not based on a castle speed control and is not programmable at all it only uses the jumpers to chose the drag brake settings and battery type. Castle link will not work.

The new AE-5 is not programmable through the castle link since it is a Hobbywing based ESC. In fact, it doesn't offer any programming other than the 2 jumpers. If you don't like the drag brake, you can replace it with the Hobbywing version which has the double pump brakes instead of drag brakes. Its only $20 from Falcon Sekido.

i have the hobbywing wp1060 which is the what the ae5 is based on but with the hobbywing you have race, sport and crawler modes and the sport setting doesnt have drag brake like svt said they are cheap and i got mine on amazon shipped from hobbywing for $22.50 and it works really well. i dont know why axial did the changes the did to the esc cause in original form it is better all around.
