Default Universal Axles

I know the XR10 mod is the cheapest and probably the best route to go, other than the new 5mm Vanquish VVD's or Super 300s, but I don't have the money for the VVD's or Super 300s and don't feel like doing the XR10 mod again. I am trying to keep stock width as my next rig will be my C1 rig. I was looking into other options for axles and came across these. I know the Axial ones pretty much suck if you try to get a lot of steering out of them. Has anyone had any experience with these? How well do they turn? I am looking for better steering and a little better strength. If they are not worth it, I will just save for VVD's.

my Axial Uni's have held up for well over a year.
But like anything that wears...
will eventually be in need of a rebuild.
Cool thing...
the Axial Uni's have easily obtainable/inexpensive rebuild kits.

I have increased steering as well
partially due to clocking the front axle.
And maybe some from the Axial 8* Chubs/knuckles.
Having a better radio also allows for throw (EP) adjustments.

Exaggerated steering is not really true to scale IMO

But if you wanted more steering control...
think about using the Under/Over drive gearing option for the axles.

a taller gearing at the front axle will increase your steering control

I have OD gears in my C2, they work well with my XR10 mod. I plan on doing the OD gears in my C1, but I still need a sharper steering option. Something that requires no modding is what I am looking for, like VVD's or S300s. My buddy always had pin problems with the Axial CVD's, while I realize good end points would resolve that issue, having 45-50 degree steering is nice. Which is why I was wondering if anyone has had experience with the STRC CVD's to see if they allow for that much steering and how well they hold up.

Ive had good experiences with rc4wd xvds for the scx10 and theyre cheep enough at around 45$ and allow 45* steering. Had em for a couple years and only snapped 1 shaft which was 10 to replace and kinda my fault for getting into a bad bind on the rocks. But your steering stops only allow for around 40-42* tops unless you mod the stock knuckles or get high steers.

Hmm i might go with those.. im currently setup on 3s with a 27T but im going to a 35T on both rigs so hopefully i wont break em. 45* is enough for me. I do 50* with my xr mod and i dont have enough servo to bring it back with my 645mg. Ill look into those. Thanks for the input. Any input on the STRCs is still welcome as i wont be making this purchase for a while so all the info i can get would be great.

I just looked these up. They have been redesigned and now go to 50*. I might just pick up a set RC4WD Extreme Duty XVD Axles for Axial / AX10 / Honcho / Dingo / Rubicon Axles (Scorpion, SCX10)

are these sold in pairs, or 1 each for $59.99? At the bottom of the page, it states, "What's Included:
  • 1x RC4WD Extreme Duty XVD Axles for Axial / AX10 / Honcho / Dingo/ Rubicon Axles (Scorpion, SCX10)"

It's a pair, not one for $60.
