Is the honcho available in a kit anymore? Looking to get one but couldn't find the kit on rpp or tower. What are my options for the kits? Really wanted the honcho On the other hand,, im not really experienced in the crawler world (come from shortcourse) what kind of electronics do you guys use? Im a cheap ass. What about the tacon crawler motor? I love their sct motors. Servos? What strength do i need? I run $15 servos in my sct that have 168oz i believe. How important is the remote? Not competing just for fun! MAy look into waterproof but i havent decided just yet! |

the Trail Honcho kit is no longer produced... tho' you may be able to google or ebay old stock. > AX90014 I purchased the Trail Honcho RTR... and tho' the servo that came with it is weak sauce and fails quickly... the other e components have held up well. I water proofed my e components... with little effort spent. I replaced my original servo with a high torque metal geared Solar D772 (about $ 22. these days) Well worth the asking price IMO But will require running 7.4v to it to net it's full potential. I'm still using the remainder of the e components 2 years later. ^ the CC esc is 3s capable... but only when using an external BEC sadly the TH RTR does not come with alloy suspension or steering links. But that's not too difficult nor costly to do on your own. The RTR comes with Castle Creations mfgr'd e components. so having their "link" as well... allows for esc adjustment using your PC The Axial Castle Creations components are also compatible with FlySky e components generally. Also the Holmes Hobbies BR/XL and Sidewinder3 ESC are also a Castle Creations components and so the CC's link will work for adjusting those ESC's as well. I prefer the Castle Creations e components and link access over Axial's latest HobbyWing offerings included in the Deadbolt SCX-10 RTR ^ the later e components cannot be adjusted using a link and PC. And only have physical/external adjustment capability. tho' this new ESC offering is 3s capable without using an external BEC Realize... an SCX-10 chassis is an SCX-10 chassis... so no matter which SCX-10 you purchased... You could fit a Trail Honcho body on it if you wanted that. |

Thanks. Im still undecided i like the jeeps but at the same time i really like the honcho. I know they are all scx10 but i was seeing if icould pick up the honcho kit and not have to buy the body seperate. I may just go the jeep route. What wheelbase do you guys prefer for just general crawling?? I will be crawling in all different terrains

my preference is the 12.3" WB the longer WB usually does better when climbing. But can drag the belly skid on sharp break-overs. my son has his WB set at 11.4" to fit a Mojave/Hilux body... the shorter WB has an advantage with break over but does slightly worse when climbing. I'd suppose your WB decision would depend on what terrain you wish to operate on most often. BTW... all the SCX-10 chassis are the same... changing WB is simply a matter of using longer link rods. Tho' a longer drive shaft could be required on longer WB rigs. |

Buy the JK kit and the Honcho body set. You can easily switch bodies depending on how feel on any particular day.

So im assuming the red jk kit with the remove able rear top is the best bang for your buck? Aluminum links and what not. It sounds pretty good

| Re: Kits Best bang for your buck would be the deadbolt. But if your looking for a kit then g6 looks to be best bang for buck. But I went with the scx10 jk c/r edition RTR and I am very happy with it. Only thing that annoyed me was the stupid plugs that come on them. I wanted a deans plug like my Yeti has. But all that can be changed but I think they should come with them already.

tho' the RTR Deadbolt is by far the best buy/deal considering cost... I believe the Deadbolt has the wider wraith axles under it. I could be wrong... but thought that to be correct. Possibly others owning the Deadbolt could clarify or correct me.

Axial currently produces the kit in the following........ Dingo short wheelbase. G6 jeep 2 door. Mid length wheelbase. Though it could be built on the long 12.3 wheelbase with the long links and moving the body on the mounts before you paint it. Or the 4 door jeep body. Long wheelbase . I would buy the latter two because I linked the longer wheelbase rigs . The orange deadbolt is made on the new ax10 chassis with the wraith axles. The green deadbolt has scx10 axles. With the right mods an scx10 based scale rig is a very capable vehicle for either scale comps, trail bashing, woods running, or just beating it to death. When building keep in mind they are not waterproof unless YOU waterproof them. |

Just to be clear, AX10 chassis comes with ar60(wraith) axles and the scx10 chassis comes with scx axles. Don't want you to pick up a scx deadbolt and not know for sure what axles/chassis you're getting. AX10 Chassis/Orange Body/Wraith axles SCX10 Chassis/Green Body/SCX axles |

If i got the green deadbolt... Does it include the long wb links since its a kit or do i just make my own and call it good? I though i read somewhere that in the axial kits they included all types of link length but i could be wrong!

| Re: Kits The deadbolt is an RTR not a kit. It's the mid length 12" wheelbase. The three kits are the Dingo, the Rubicon, and the G6. The Rubicon is 12.3", the G6 is 12", and the Dingo is 11.4". Each kit only comes with the links for the specified wheelbase though they do have an assortment of all the plastic parts: plastic links, link ends, drive shafts. So all you would need to change the wheel base on any of the kits would be new aluminum rear lower links since the fronts are the same on all of them I believe.
