I agree, the DB has to be the best bang for the Axial buck they've had thus far IMO,plus at Tower,it's always free shipping (no out of state tax either),and with their monthly dicount codes it's always cheaper (it's $266.97 this month,or $260 if you're a Veteran, which I am...I may have to buy another SCX10* just because the DB can be had and shipped so cheaply--the wife IS trying to teach me to save money afterall,LOL! :p )

*I bought a Trail Honcho a few months back,along with an RC4WD Trail Stomper (both new,from Tower),so I don't NEED another one,but I digress,LOL!
I was discussing the G6 kit since it was a Kit vs RTR talk. The Deadbolt also has the same wheelbase (12") as the G6, the same tires (Both R35 Treps), the only real difference is some links and a little bit of shock difference.

The reasoning behind this thread helps out many new guys and guys like myself who have been out of the hobby for a bit and are looking for a cheap and quick way back in. It's even better seeing reports of just how durable these trucks are in stock form. I've been reading Naz-T's thread on his Deadbolt and have been very impressed with the durability. I'm no stranger to doing scratch builds, upgrades, and diy parts fabrication...but it's nice to have an RTR do this well out of the box.
Here is the easiest way I have found to remove the tires without damaging any of the components.

Pre-heat oven to 325.
Cover a cookie sheet with tin foil.
Bake tires for 20 mins.
Remove from oven
Quickly break the bead surface of the side that is facing up.
Place tires back in the oven for 5 mins with the other side facing up.
Remove from oven and completely remove tire from wheel.

Ok Harley, I understand the rtr thing but do you actually use the TX/RX? We know you have the Futaba. I can't see where swaping them in shpuld be put in the tally.

I have so far, but in the Wraith Budget Build I swapped it out right away. I probably will on this one soon. It's one of those sticky points in the build, especially down the road when I add something will need 3 or maybe 4 channels. I'll explain my way around that point when the time comes. I have this brand new Futaba 4PX sitting here that really would like more run time!

My bad (on the wheelbase),I was thinking the DB had the 12.3",and thought you were talking about the rtr version (of the G6),sorry (one of these days I'll learn to just keep my big trap shut :lmao, but was only trying to be helpful anyways,LOL).

Still in agreement on this being th ebest bang for Axial buck and still anxious to follow along

Any chance on one of the "free" weeks you could do some wire routing tips? By the time I install and my basic electronics then add lights, winch,BEC,etc I have wires everywhere even using the chassis clips

the Deadbolt is offered using two different RTR chassis.
so that may offer some confusion.

SCX-10 DB RTR = 12.0" WB - http://www.axialracing.com/products/ax90044

AX-10 DB RTR = 12.2" WB - http://www.axialracing.com/products/ax90033

How come you didn't lay the battery width wise behind the motor? Would give you lower lcg.

Are you going to figure in the cost of a haircut to you build?

I've got a plate that I plan to use in the near future, it's super cheap but it wasn't available at the time of the video. So I wanted to get something done ASAP because that rear mounted pack was driving me nuts. The upgrades that I am most concerned were going to cost more than $50 so I needed to build up a little budget. I want to get the links replaced ASAP, so that will likely be very soon.

Again, these super early videos and such are not always very entertaining and make me a little crazy when doing them as they are pretty basic. I don't want to lose the masses right off the bat though is the thing (not the RCC crowd as most people on here are more than savvy enough to do simple modifications).

I've been too busy with clan wars to worry about that! Nicole is a hair dresser and I still put it off! She has the whole setup in the house, maybe next week...

He doesn't have a site, I'll likely get them added on mine since he is not a vendor here.

Ah, I posted it to the first page. I'll try to keep the first few posts always up to date.

Again, this week is a little dull for guys here. The balance between RCC and YouTube can be so far off that it's makes me almost a little timid to post some of the early stuff all over.

Couldn't resist (and couldn't wait until Tower got em back in stock--sometimes their "Mid November" turns into late December ) when I saw there was ONE in stock at Hobbytown when I went in to pick up a pair of (lexan) scissors earlier....bought the last SCX10 Deadbolt they expect to have in stock this year to follow/build along (cause I enjoyed watching your last build so much,as well as another's experience/build of theirs on the forum as well). $315.89 out the door (cause you know,uh...I only have 2 other SCX10's,and a yet-to-run RC4WD Trail Stomper and unbuilt CC01 takign up space,I really NEEDED another
