I am not as conceerned about scale apperance. Wouln't a traditional 4 link setup give me as good of performance for trails and a some climbing as the Panhard setup?

| Re: Harley's $50 SCX10 Deadbolt Budget Build Yes, a typical 4 link will perform as good or better in almost all situations. The 3 link with panhard has limitations that the 4 link does not. |

I bought some 3/16" steel rod but couldn't find any stainless here locally. Im considering buying some 6061 aluminum rod in 3/16" for links. Are there any disadvantages to this?

| Re: Harley's $50 SCX10 Deadbolt Budget Build The only downside is that you can bend it easier. But it will do for most situations. And if not, you already know how to make new ones!

1/4 steel break line with 8/32 all thread works great

| Re: Harley's $50 SCX10 Deadbolt Budget Build If using the sleeved method I only use stainless tube. Brake line is too loose and bends too easy for me. If going that route, there are much stronger options. The downside to sleeved links after that is breaking the all-thread off at the end of the link.

I haven't done the part 2 video for last week's update yet, I ended up getting sick last week for a few days. But I hope to get that knocked out ASAP! The parts for this week arrived on Saturday and I want to finish that up before soon as well!

Last night after playing around in the shop I decided to do a little experiment. I want to 3D print a new grill area for this car. Now the grill shell is super simple and I could easily make a template and just draw something up. BUT I wanted to play around with a different method that may come in helpful for other projects down the road. First thing I did was wrap the front of the body in blue painters tape (for the satin finish). I also made a bunch of marks on it to help things stitch together. Then I took 20-30 pictures and ran it through 123D Catch, the free app from Autodesk. It spit out this downloadable 3D model. Again, only the front area is what I'm interested in. I imported that model into CAD and trimmed off the excess garbage. Next I could do some smoothing and such, but I'm not all that concerned at the moment. This was all just an experiment anyway. I'll work on a grill shell later this week maybe. If I print one, I'll add it into the budget and allow people to buy it for whatever that value is Down the road I'm thinking that some Vanquish Q-series lights would make some pretty awesome headlights for this truck. |

I call first dibs on a grill when they're available. Being sick is all kinds of fun, I have some crud that I suspect my kid brought home from school. |

Could you oat some measurements of that battery/electronics tray up! I think it could be very handy and looks really easy to build

| Re: Harley's $50 SCX10 Deadbolt Budget Build I normally post up dimensions and such but I won't on that one. The design was not mine originally. He is having them cut and I'll have them for sale when they are done. |

Harley, I have a question. Just put a new set of STRC rear lockouts on my Deadbolt and there is a lot of play with the axles now compared to the stock lockouts. Any idea why or what I might have done wrong?

Hey, Harley could you post up link lengths for the whole car and what individual Vanquish links I would have to use to piece together a set of links. Thanks

| Re: Harley's $50 SCX10 Deadbolt Budget Build Not much you can screw up with installing lockouts. As long as you have the proper bearings installed I can't think of anything that could cause extra slop. Could just be poor dimensions with their parts or a particular run of them. Not all that much you can do other than shim the axle shafts to try and bandaid the issue.
