An early Happy Thanksgiving to you guys. This week's video will be up by midnight tonight (central time). I may not get a chance to come back and post it up right away here though. So check the YouTube channel for it if I haven't. For those who don't frequent the book of faces, here is a shot of this week's upgrade. I don't normally show the upgrades ahead of time but it's my rules and I'll do what I want! The build is going to start to look further and further from a stock Deadbolt now! Going to get fun! |

| Re: Harley's $50 SCX10 Deadbolt Budget Build I ended up getting sick and didn't get it done. I was out for about 3 days last week and that threw me off. I mention it in this video but the link I had in the description of the last video has in depth info on link building for guys who need it. I was just planning on going over the method of making links where you run a die directly over 3/16 rod.

| Harley's $50 SCX10 Deadbolt Budget Build
Ok, I have a couple questions regarding links on my Deadbolt. First question: I'm wanting to run 4 link in the front. I'm also going to build my own links. Will the two front upper links be the same length as the two rear upper links? I'm trying to figure out the length of what the two front upper links will be. If they are the same as the two rear upper links, that will be easy. Next question: For the drag link, do I measure from the servo arm to the knuckle, where the tie rod and drag link bolt on? I'm assuming that would be the best way to get the length of the drag link. Thanks!!! Sent from my modded TI-83 plus. Last edited by 2-shot; 11-28-2014 at 11:20 AM. |

Thanks for doing these videos. You have taught me a lot from my ol stubborn ways by trying things you suggest and them working well. I watch every video you post on YouTube. Thanks again, Troy |

Haven't really followed this thread but saw mention of the SSD beadlocks being used. Seeing them assembled with a lil tire tugging action has me sold on them. Thanks for the details...

2. Yes, from the servo to the knuckle is where you want to measure when making your own since mounting onto the tie rod is no longer efficient. | |

I finally got a chance to really run my new DB today. I have to admit, it's a climbing machine in (vaguely) stock form. I had briefly considered putting some weights in the wheels or going with knuckle weights, but with your suggested setup of the electronics moved up next to the tranny and the motor combined with the battery sitting low across the frame in front of the tranny and motor, it climbs really well. So much so, that after adding the slightly exta weight of steel wheels, I think any more weight would inhibit its climbing ability. I'm really happy with this little rig and even managed to hit a line I was never able to quite make with my old 2.2 comp rig. I attribute most of it to the shorter wheelbase and lighter weight, sometimes less is more.

Spent Thanksgiving down in the Ozarks and spent some time on the trails with the rig. Nicole and I were hiking the Devil's Kitchen when I ended up with some carnage. So I ended up having to pack the rig on my back and finished the hike. Still an awesome day of running. Next week I'll replace the broken parts and take that into account on the budget. |

I'm thinking either the servo or steering knuckles.
