I was messing around with Adobe Illustrator and a laser cutter and made a Bosch sticker for the distributor.

Thanks Mike. Added a bit more detail to the engine tonight. Found a green and red wire and added wires to the alternator and a fuel line from the fuel pump to the carburetor. The fuel line is the black one running behind the distributor. Pretty tight in there. It's just a piece of heat shrink tubing that was just warmed a bit to take the kinks out of it. Also, I seem to have lost my only fan belt. I'm now on the search for another tiny black elastic band. Crap! That was the only one in the house and I have no idea where it came from.

Went back to the Carisma roof rack. My 3D printed one is too flimsy. Loaded up some gear for the Call to Crawl event this weekend in Calgary.

Had a blast at the second GCM Call to Crawl event in Calgary. Here's a few pics of the Bug.

Cheers eh,

Playing around with the laser cutter at work. Made an ID plate on the fan shroud (it's between the coil and the air cleaner). It's a whole 9.5 mm wide X 4 mm high. Also started thinking about the interior. Here's an inner door panel idea, it's styrene, need to fine tune the laser cutter settings for this though.

Tried to make it look like this one.

We ACVW folk call that "blower cover" a "fan shroud"

Looks great! I've wanted an RC to match my 1:1 '62 for a long time.

Good to know. I'll fix it. You'd best get building your RC Bug then.

I was cleaning off the bench today and found a teeny, tiny spring from an N scale train. Figured what the heck, I've got a set of micro drill bits and I've never used the #80 bit, or anything close to that small for that matter, let's see if I can't drill a couple of holes and attach a throttle spring. Here's the result. Might try again where I don't bend the spring so much. Not sure what's missing a spring now though...

Well, rather than work on the car yesterday my boy convinced me to go out crawling at the Blackfoot RC Park again. Didn’t take too much convincing I must say. Besides, I had to see the new bridge...

Added a cover over the battery in the back seat area. You can see it in some of these shots. Can't see it here but the lights are working too.

Apologies.. just caught up with this thread and very, sorry VERY.. impressed with the video. Excellent driving and filming skills, very envious of the location. After having 8 Beetles, all of which I still wish I had, just found another to admire as much. Pob hwyl ( all the best)

No worries mate. Glad you enjoyed the video. Bring your Bug over anytime for a Crawl.

Cheers eh,

Todd

Finally did some work on the bug. Found a new spring from inside an old broken camera. Looks a little better than the old one so the bug has a new throttle spring. That's it, that's all. A whole 5 minutes.

Guess the next step is to clean it up and get it ready for another season of crawling.

Was playing around in Adobe Illustrator and made a brand for my Bugs. Borrowed the main idea from Instructables.

And here's my first attempt at making decals. Not perfect but OK for now.
