| Dingo to Bug
Got a Dingo kit for Christmas this year. I've know about it for a month as my 8 year old isn't very good at keeping a secret. I won't bore you with the build as it's mostly stock right now. So, I've been collecting a few bits and pieces. Got a Carisma M10DT body at the LHS. It's a Beetle. They didn't have the clear body, just the pre-painted one, but I got it anyways. It's painted on the outside and a new coat of grey awaits. First this I did was to remove all of the stickers. Not sure why the biggest sticker would say RC. Surely we an all figure that bit out. Same goes for the Volkswagen Beetle sticker. I have an Axial AE-5 ESC kicking around so I'll use that for now. Also got a Hitec HS646 WP servo and an Airtronics RX-471W waterproof receiver to go with my Airtronics MT-4s radio. I picked up a couple of these trays on Ebay. One for this build and one for my son's Falken G6. Here it is installed. I like it. Nice and clean. I found a Holmes Hobbies 27t motor at the LHS and picked that up as well. Top view. I'm going to mount the receiver 180° from what you see here so the antenna exits the back. The build is pretty much stock so far other that the fact that I added a set of aluminum Honcho links and have installed them as a 4 link setup. The Carisma body is quite large, much bigger than than the Tamiya Bug. One thing I don't like about the Carisma Bug body is the shape of the front fender. The back of the fender is vertical. You can see it here. I'd like to push it back a bit like this. Maybe something similar at the back. Just not sure how. I wish it was as easy to do in Lexan as it is to do in Photoshop. I cut a bit of the frame off at the back to make it easier to fit the body. I guess I'm committed now eh. This is about the stance I'm looking for. Maybe even lower but I need to see how clearance works. May try trimming the fenders a bit. Just need to figure out how to best mount the body. The wide body mounts that come with the Dingo (and my son's Falken G6) fit the pre-drilled holes in the body just fine but are way too high for what I'm trying to achieve. That's it for now. Will update as more progress is made. Last edited by Tossedman; 04-13-2018 at 07:31 AM. Reason: another idea |

Started on the body surgery today. Made the first cut like so: Can hardly see it Used fibreglass tape. And Shoe Goo. Here's the high tech applicator. The results so far. Going to have to figure out how to fill this gap. Am also going to trim the fender flush with the running board. Looks better. I'm liking it so far. This is a nice body but could use better shaped fenders. Didn't like it much when it was like this. Tomorrow will see the other side done. |

Got some Krylon Khaki Camouflage Paint and slapped a few coats on the body. It's as flat as. Going to use black Plasti-Dip on the running boards. If it's warm enough to paint outside I'll do that this weekend. That Plasti-Dip is nasty stuff to spray in the house. Here's where I'm at. The indicator lights need some silver and orange paint and some LEDs. |

Actually I've added Honcho links. It's a little longer than the Dingo.

Got some new wheels. G-Made beadlocks. Added on the headlights, door handles, etc. Had to strip off the pre-painted weathering that Carisma had sprayed on first. A Q-tip and some brake fluid took it off in seconds. Added the engine. It'll need some detailing I think. The roof rack lights and headlights and tail lights will work. Trying to fit some bulbs into the front indicator lights as well. And it has a driver. Might be this one, might be another. I always thought Wild Willy had a big head but it seems to fit here. Haven't decided yet. |

| Re: Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build Wheelbase is 313mm or 12.3 in. I just added the aluminum Honcho links to the Dingo chassis. Too bad that Proline discontinued the short wb body. I quite like the look of Buxom Melons.

Testing the lights. I don't have a light controller for the bucket lights on the roof yet. That's coming though. Now I gotta figure out how to make some bumpers for it. |

Thanks man. I have stickers and numbers for a rally car but they're all made to go on the inside and this thing came prepainted on the outside. Need to find another solution.

Yeah, they work pretty good eh. The head and tail lights are made to accept a 5mm LED. The marker lights came with stickers on them. Threw those out and painted the outside Tamiya flat aluminum for the silver bits and translucent orange for the lens. Put an orange 3mm LED in for the light.
