Default 2015 scx10 Deadbolt info/upgrades

This won't be a normal build thread as I'm not good at chronicling. That said, here goes...

The SCX10 Deadbolt is a great truck out of the box but, like most on here, I want it to do more =)

1st upgrades - aluminum links and steering. This is very necessary for how i use my rig.

2nd upgrades - 2.2 Mickey Thompson MT-28 wheels. These are considerably heavier than stock and I feel they offset (mostly) the extra height.
- 2.2 Falken Wildpeak M/T tires. I'm much more inclined to dig into a mud hole and they provide awesome traction. I vented them for rock crawling by heating a standard wire coat hanger and melting/poking 3 holes in center of tread. Works great and I don't get the feeling they will tear as a result.

- Gead Head lift kit. I used it to lift and also angle all corners inward to help with clearance of tires/wheels and to get better bite when climbing.
- G-Made Zero shocks in 104mm length. They are much smoother than stock and I felt I needed the length with the additional height.

There will be more upgrades and I'll try to record them here.
I'm also building on an Exceed Maxstone 10 with my son.

May start a thread on it also.

nice set up. im torn between getting a deadbolt or a scx10 rubicon, but i defenately like the 2.2 tires, i dont know if i could run a 1.9 rig, the tires just seem too small for me,

Waiting on axial metal transmission gear set to arrive.

Turns out that caking the tires with around 2 lbs of clay mud puts too much strain on plastic gears before the 5 yr old stops pushing it! LOL

I'll be shifting the shocks back as far as I can with this lift kit but otherwise, nothing additional this round.

Nice rig. I thought the deadbolt would work well with 2.2 wheels and tires. I like the idea of the lift kit to give more clearance for the body. I might have to try that.

I thought this at first 2 and it comes down to how scale you want the rig! The 4.5" tall 1.9 tires are like a 45" tall tire in real life which no one runs.. But the body is also a tad larger than scale too.. I wheel a 1.9 rig right next to a 2.2 rig and other than ground clearance... Not much different.
