While looking at these photos I've posted, I have decided I'm going to tint the windows...I hate seeing the "guts".

I agree, that will make it much cleaner for exterior viewing pleasure. What rear strut bar did you use to connect the shocks? On the Vanquish ackerman arms are you able to mount two nuts on the screws for upper shock hole or just one due to fitment? Everything really came together great.

i think the 2.2s look better on your rig than the 1.9s did. very very awesome build dude. sub'ing to this thread for future mods and pictures.

I used an Axial 60mm threaded tube with a spacer. I should have gotten a 65mm. Yes, the two lower screws aligned with the holes on the TSS frame (luckily). I did drill and tap a lower hole on the Ackerman arm for the front shock mount to get the ride height where I wanted it.

Or put an interior in it! The yeti interior, or a cut up jeep rubi should work nicely with a little cutting, and maybe adding a rear deck if using the yeti. Plus it will really give it that ultra cool factor

I am a huge VDub fan, my first car was a Porsche 912 powered '59 Beetle. This build is over the top cool man!

I thought about an interior....but....I'm currently tinting the windows as I type. To be honest, I'm not a beetle worshipper, I wanted something different and I do like the Baja Bug look. Plus, with the curved roof, I'm hoping it will help land the rig on it's feet with the inevitable rollovers!

The first 2.2 crawler (comp rig) I ever built had a bug body.

The round top certainly helps with getting back on your wheels. It takes a little practice on the throttle to get the rocking motion going, but yeah!

+1. Dinky makes an interior that will work. Or Proline. Or Axial JK or deadbolt.

Another question for you. When you modified the VP cms side mount did you just trim the sides and top of what you were not using? My build has the same chassis, axles, etc and this combination looks to work the best. (Wraith panhard + SCX side mount?)

Thanks!

Martin

Yes, trimmed as short as possible while keeping two bolt holes to mount the modified VP SCX10 Panhard mount to the frame.

Windows are tinted....essentially blacked out with a very slight tint of metallic purple. Tomorrow is gonna be a beautiful sunny day for crawling, so I'll be using vented 2.2 Falken Wildpeak tires with some Axial Black Chrome Rockster Beadlocks. I wanted a lightweight wheel combination since I have plenty of forward biased weight already.

When I was building this rig, I was fully intending it on being a 1.9 Wroncho....that's no longer the case now that I have driven it with 2.2's. Not only do the 2.2 rims and rubber look much better, the Falkens performance was awesome on the rocks; these are vented tires so they are now designated as dry weather crawling only. Here's some pics:

For the wet crawling conditions, I'll be using cut U4 Voodoo tires on SSD's new 2.2 Steel Beadlocks.

It does, and that was with the first version of the cut Voodoo tires. I haven't had a chance to test with the latest cut pattern.

It was another great day of crawling; beautiful sunny day with t-shirt temperatures although the run was muddy and wet from the early morning rain. I gave the HH BL Pro 540 a hard test today and it passed with flying colours. I forgot my temp gun, but I used the finger test throughout the day, especially after a vigorous crawl section and the motor never got hot; just barely warm. Same with the HH servo, it works amazing well and the torque and speed is exceptional, there was never a time that I felt I needed more steering power.

Although I cut the Voodoo tires even more from the last time, I can't give a fair comparison because of the wet and sloppy conditions today. They did a very good job despite...certainly better than the full uncut tread pattern.

These pics will show that my rig isn't just for show 'n shine...it gets driven hard!

Very cool build just wondering do have any specs on that body wheelbase width length etc ( I've checked on pro lines site but no info) as was looking at running one with SCX10 axles etc...

Thanxs. The wheelbase of this Wroncho Bug is 13 7/8" and looking at the body, the wheelbase looks to be slightly less.

Some changes and upgrades for the Wroncho Bug.

Out on the rocks, I was experiencing a bit of torque twist. With a Wraith transmission, mirroring the the trans wasn't possible....so I switched the transmission to an SCX10 style and was able to mirror the trans. I already needed long rear driveshafts with the Wraith trans, so now I needed even longer driveshafts with the SCX10 transmission. Luckily, the Yeti's rear driveshaft is longer; so I ordered up a MIP version of the Yeti rear driveshaft.

I swapped the Currie axles for VP's AR60 Aluminum axles. (The Curries went to my DMG Wraith)

I replaced the plastic Axial Poison Spyder front bumper that was mounted on the rear of the Bug chassis with RC4WD ARB Stubby JK Front Bumper....which again, is mounted on the rear of the chassis. Mounted some rear tail lights and now the rear end can take some serious abuse!

Here's the pics....
