How are the body mounts holding up? Do they move on you?

bilinvic 03-26-2015 07:33 PM

Re: Wroncho Baja Bug - Wraith, SCX10, Yeti

Body mounts are good; the rear two loosen up a bit by the end of a ride, but the body is notched into the sliders and doesn't move at all. Fronts are solid.

Re: Wroncho Baja Bug - Wraith, SCX10, Yeti

Took the Wroncho Bug out for a trial run with the mirrored trans and improved tire cut; definitely helped. Although this rock area in the video doesn't look too bad, it's incredibly difficult and it took multiple attempts and videos to get it without a crash and burn!

Some testing in my back yard with the Sedona tires....The overall performance of this Wroncho Bug is trully incredible for a full custom build!

That's your back yard? I now officially hate you out of nothing but envy!

Very nice man, the rig looks to perform well.

Yes, my back yard is pretty much all rock with scattered gardens. It definitely makes for a good testing and tuning area without having to pack everything up. Within minutes of my home there are a few mountains that have some incredible crawling areas that can easily consume several hours of crawling without hitting the same spot twice. And the real bonus is, I haven't had to pick up a snow shovel for the last four years!

We get no snow here, ever... As far as the rest, please look to the left hand column, below my screen name, and above the green star :lmao:

Re: Wroncho Baja Bug - Wraith, SCX10, Yeti

The forward trailing arm mounts (which are actually stock aluminum Wraith steering arms) were starting to bend, so out came the aluminum stock and I fabricated new, much beefier mounts for the trailing arms. They turned out great and I shouldn't ever have to worry about them ever again.

Before:

After:

Re: Wroncho Baja Bug - Wraith, SCX10, Yeti

Had to go out and test my new trailing arm forward link mounts this evening. As expected, they worked perfectly!!!!

I also threw on the 2.2 Sedona tires and let me tell you, there is no comparison; hands down the Sedona tires are the BEST tire I have ever used.

Thank you. I'm thinking of trying out SSD's new rear centered axle housing on this beast since it gets used fairly hard!!!

Thanxs SouthernComfort, I appreciate the compliment. It's been a while since I have taken 'er out for a good crawl....the summer seems to be the off season for our large group of crawlers.

I finally got the Wroncho Bug out to stretch it's legs on Saturday....it was a 5 hour crawl!!! This machine is definitely my favourite crawler...it's performance blows me away!

Re: Wroncho Baja Bug - Wraith, SCX10, Yeti

Awesome. . How does it do with the rear trailing arm front mount hanging below the frame like that ?

bilinvic 08-24-2015 12:31 PM

Re: Wroncho Baja Bug - Wraith, SCX10, Yeti

The forward trailing arm mounts are angled and slide over any potential obstacles. There's not many scratches on them compared to the axles, which leads me to believe they don't intrude that much.

Re: Wroncho Baja Bug - Wraith, SCX10, Yeti

Cool. Love how the back tire fits right up into the finder like that.
