| Clod body with dropped bed on SCX10 chassis
I'm going to start a build with a Clod body on a SCX10 chassis. I'm wanting to do a dropped bed on my Clod body, but I'm not sure how much room I'll have between the bed and chassis rails, after the bed is dropped.. I wondering about rear shock mounts. I want to keep the 4 link setup on the front and rear. I'm wondering if I will need to make shorter rear shock mounts, because of the dropped bed? Would I be better off to not drop the bed and leave it like it is? Thanks in advance for your help! Sent from my modded TI-83 plus |

Depending on how high you mount the body you should have plenty of room, and I've seen shock relocation kits that move the shock mounts to the frame rails, so you could mount them lower and definitely have room! I left the bed alone in my tamiya body and you can see how much room is under it. LOL!!! I completely forgot about the shock relocation kits! That would definitely be the way to go! I really want to drop the bed on my Clod body. I think it looks a lot better! That's a nice looking rig, by the way!! I like the Tamiya F-350 body!! Thanks for your help!! Sent from my modded TI-83 plus

I am in the process of building the same thing right now, clod body on an SCX-10. In my opinion, with the bed at stock, it still doesn't sit low enough to look like a mild 1:1 (class 1) which is what I am going for. I can't drop the bed without cantilever suspension, and since Dinky R/C 's cantilever kits have been sold out for the last 8 years, that's not really an option. I think I may leave the bed where it is (stock) and possibly cut out shock tower holes. I will then disguise them with a scale accessory like a cooler or something. Dropping the bed is a pretty major ordeal, changes everything about the truck's performance because you have to sacrifice something in the rear. That F-350 above is mounted to high for class one scale looks, but it still looks pretty bad ass.

I honestly don't care about meeting the class 1 criteria. I just want a cool looking scale rig. I don't compete, so keeping it within the rules isn't a big deal for me. It will strictly be a trail rig. Gearhead makes the shock relocation kit, as well. I'm sure the Dinky cantilever setup works better, but the Gearhead shock relocation is another option. I'm still unsure if I wanna drop the bed on it. I'm not sure if I'll do 1.55 or 1.9's on it. Like I said, I'm just going for a cool looking rig. I'm not worried if I stay within the class 1 regulations. I did see that Dinky RC makes, or made a bed cover for the Clod body. That might be an option if you're looking at cutting holes in the bed for the shock hoops. Sent from my modded TI-83 plus

Sorry for the double post. Dinky RC had the cantilever in stock a week or so ago. A couple guys in a local FB group I'm in, just got new cantilevers from Dinky RC. Sent from my modded TI-83 plus |

Nice mount job, any shots of the actual mount on the frame?

I ended up finding a new DinkyRC cantilever kit. I'm gonna try that out and see how well it works. Sent from my modded TI-83 plus |

I'll be damned that looks pretty good for using the stock stuff. (thread officially hijacked, but very helpful to the OP I am sure)

I may need more info as I get into the build. I'm gonna get the bodywork lined out first, then start on the actual build. Sent from my modded TI-83 plus
