Default Newbee from the Netherlands

Hi,

My name is Rob (merlin64) and i live in the Netherlands.
Till now i have flown RC planes for years and the last few years mainly FPV.
Because the weather in the Netherlands is often windy and/ore rainy and not very good to fly planes, i decided to buy myself a RC car.
I have chosen for the "Axial Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon" kit version which will arrive till the end of this week.
During the build of this car there will rise questions i guess and i hope to get the answers here on this huge forum.

Rob.

Package arrived few days ago.
At this moment everything is stock out of the box, what i noticed is that the shock absorbers do not absorb very much. maybe i have to experiment with different oil??
Somone any advice about this?

Rob.

Welcome to your new sector of the R/c hobby.Maybe some heavier oil will help your shock woes.I run 45 wt. oil in mine.I Beleive Axial supplies 30wt. oil in the kits. That paint scheme looks fantastic.Keep us posted.

Will keep posting here for sure, my plan is to run this car first in stock configuration and getting some experience in crawling. Than upgrade it bit by bit.
I am reading a lot on this forum and getting more and more ideas . I think i am bitten by the bug.............

Painting is done now, it is not perfect becouse the material where the masks were made from was not good enough.
Next body will be better

If you think that paint job wasn't so good, feel free to send the body to me here in Denmark

All the way from over here, it looks pretty damn awesome!

Out of those 2 I would go with the 2400kv. If the ESC you are getting does brushed and brushless I would start with a stock axial 27 turn motor. Its cheap and works well. Also it can get wet without damage. The sensored BL motors you need to waterproof.

Tnx for this useful tip, I did not know that a brushed motor did not need waterproofing.
I have not ordered a ESC jet so i will take a look a one that can run brushed and brushless motors as well and order a stock brushed motor with it. Than i have a cheap and waterresistant setup, and i can experiment with the other two motors.

Also make sure the ESC is sensored for the brushless. The castle MMP is the way to go but a little pricy. But it does last. Its hard to overpower that esc. Only brand I don't recommend is Novak. They seem to have issues holding in the manic smoke lol

Castle sounds familiar, in my bigger planes i use Castle ESC's for years but is there a Castle ESC which is compatible with brushed and brushless motors?

Most of the castle escs can do both via the castle link which you may have already. Lots of guys use the sidewinder for brushed motors. It does not have a sensor tho.
