Default Xr steering mod

I've done some searching and before I placed orders I figured ask
Is there any other better or cheaper options to get splined tubes other that burley tubes? I'd like to keep stock track width

The stock xr plastic c's will push right on the scx axle case with no modding. The axle case already has a large spline at the top and bottom. Give it a try.

I thought a V had to be ground into the stock housing"s "spline" if splined tubes aren't going to be used?
The nice thing about the splined tubes is strength and the ability to further clock the chubs.
And doesn't this mod still push the axles out about a half an inch, no matter which way you go?

Rcbros offer stock width tubes but you have to cut the axle housing and drill a couple holes.

The xr mod does add just a little bit of width but nothing to worry about. I did not have to grind a V on either of my rigs when using xr plastic c's. Maybe you will if using alm c's.
