Default Too cheap to buy a power wagon but wanted a Ram build

Like the title says. I was too cheap to spend the $70 or so the actual power wagon body was going to cost on its own... so I went with the proline Ram body... which isnt as cool as the power wagon. But still cool.

When I first mounted it I hated it. Then i got looking at it on the shelf and thought id give it one more try. Now, I actually like it. Not sure what the truck is actually going to BE... but for now its a runner.

-Howler Customs battery plate
-Vanquish Titanium 4 link front and rear (12.3)
-Axial aluminum steering links
-Hitec 645MG servo
-AE2 ESC and stock 27t motor
-Ebay lift kit
-Proline Ram body and light bar

Thats it. For now. What do YOU think? Do you like this body? (thats what she said... lol)

Obligatory Flex Shots

No bumpers will fit and I had to remove the sliders... I have no idea how proline expected this body would mount WITH the sliders. Its already too high IMO and the sliders mount about 3/4 of an inch higher than the bottom of the body. For now, I'm going to leave them off.

I agree. Going to pull the lift kit and see how it looks. I have another lift thats more adjustable and might work better. The body needs a little lift or the wheels rub bad. But your right, theres too much fender gap right now.

Id love to see how you mounted the body. If you just trimmed more of the sides and front bumpers or if you were able to lift the body using the mounts enough to not need more trimming.

Figure out how to post pics so i can see. Lol

I think if you'd add some body lines it'll make the white look better. Right now it's too white.

I used the stock mounts.Backs are fine .The fronts I drilled an extra hole on the bottom blank section of the posts to get that extra little bit of height required.

I think if you blacken the bumpers and the grill it would bring the whole truck together. Like the Ram posted by redbeard, maybe a small black stripe on the bottom connecting the front and rear fender flares.

I actually didnt do that on purpose. I have a friend with a brand new white ram and his has a white grill and white bumpers. I wanted this one to look like an actual truck. I need to do some body lines though around the doors and the box/cab area. That would go a long way to make it look more real.

Tackled the ride height and added some bumpers tonight.

Removed the lift kit and just put the shocks back to the stock locations
Added a Dingo rear bumper. Had to trim off the rear bumper from the body but I think it looks and fits awesome.
Added a Honcho front bumper. Again, had to trim off the whole front bumper from the body but it fits and looks great. Very "pre-runner"-ish.
Finally, trimmed the sides of the body a bit so the sliders would fit back on. They look pretty good i think. Definitely finish off the side of the body.

Last but not least, I mounted the spare tire...

This has gone from being my least favourite truck to one of my most favourite. Im going to do a GCM front motor mount and put the Axial kit shocks on it. I don't think its going to get any fancy lights or any other extras. I just have the parts to do the front motor and I have the axial shocks so why not.

Looks awesome, nice work!

Did you start with a Jeep Rubicon scx10 or a Honcho scx10?

I have the Jeep Rubicon and was thinking of going with that Proline Ram body just to change things up. If you did start with the Jeep kit, did the stock body mounts work out for you?

It's hard to remember what it started as. I think it was a G6... To mount this body you need 12.3 wheelbase links. I used a vanquish titanium set I had laying around. The body mounts needed some tweaking as the guys have described above. But they do work.
Everything else is mostly stock. I decided against the GCM front mount and I removed the light bar. Looks way better now. My next project for this truck is to get it waterproof. Need to swap servo and esc. Might tackle that tonight.
