Default Sloski's attempt at a scaler

Its been a few years since I built a scale rig.....
or even owned one, and never cared for driving them around...
but thanx to my lovely daughter who bought me a deadbolt for my birthday

really just wanted one to try FPV on it.......

I cant leave anything stock, so the first was to change tires and wheels
here it is with a camera on the front....

that was cool, but I wanted a different body that you don't see often, and was different from the norm...

we have this......

cool and all but still was not doing it for me...
while trying to figured out this body deal, I added some stuff

the VP 12.3 link, panhard, CMS kit
VP shock hoops
Axial Alum. shock bodies
7950 servo
BP battery tray
rc4wd front stinger with the sides cut off (didn't like that part sticking out )
RR gears
Slipper removed
Yeah racing motor plate
GPM spur gear backing plate

and here is how it looks now.....

Fenders and top were painted inside and on the outside......
and Yes this is a 11.8 WB body on a 12.3 chassis.......
Velcro mounted body... I didn't want to see body mounts...
as things change or as I add stuff I will try to update this...

Thanx for lookin......

Nice!

Curious to what rig you are looking to do fpv?

I have one too, and to pull it off in a scale fashion is a challenge to say the least.

The first picture the deadbolt has a camera and the transmitter on it..

it transmit's back to a DIY 15" screen ground station......

it was only fun for a few times...........

Yeah mine is then next gen fatshark if I'm not mistaken.

Very delicate and it gets hot!

Need to figure out some kind of solid state mount, maybe a slab of styrene to attach it to.

Well it's not going there now because of the winch I put on.

like I said I was thinking I could attach the whole rig camera and all to a piece of styrene and mount it all under the roll cage, that way it won't stress the wires and such and I can pop it off and on. This would mean -per your idea- it would be looking through the windshield. Another thing I don't like is the narrow pov which I think could be rectified by putting another lens on it, which could be gotten at fry's or wherever because they are standardized like security cams (not hobby grade - cheap) but I have not persued that lead yet to be certain.

You are smart to have a monitor, the goggles are blurry and my young son can't use them anyway, trying to find one on the cheap.

The monitor was inexpensive to build....
cant say cheap.....

too much for good goggles.......
and didn't care for using them........

I put the cam I have inside the cab and I saw more of the inside of the body that I saw out the window...
that's why it on the hood.......

Sloski
Are you gonna bring that rig up to axialfest?
I got a bad case of gate withdrawal.
Thought about bringing my Berg but these scaler guys might throw a fit.
I got a camp spot with power and water.
Stop by if you make it.
I 8 is the camp space.

Nice seeing you at Jakes, glad I went with the Deadbolt this time. I am about half done with the teardown and upgrades, hoping for AF but may not make it. And yes I was back at the shop Monday
