Default Scx10 rear axle not turning smoothly upon assembly

Hi folks,
Newbie here needing a little help.
As the title states, my rear axle is not turning smoothly when i turn it using my fingers. I checked inside to see if there was anything impeding it but i dont see anything that could. If disassembled it turns smoothly but when i close the housing for it that's when it happens. Any ideas?

Sorry for the newbie question. I tried searching for a fix but just couldn't find one.

Make sure pinion bearing is seated.Pretty normal. The more you run it smoother it will get.

I had this problem, turned out to be the axles. I tried pinion shims, lube they wern't smooth unless I took it apart. I replaced axles w/ STRC and then they were perfect. Rolling the axle on a drill press showed one had a slight curve to it.

The pinion yoke on the drive shaft
actually pulls the pinion shaft outward slightly
when it is attached and pinned.
The pinion yoke seats on the external bearing
or is very close to doing so.

so... pull the pinion shaft outwards with slight tension
when turning the pinion by hand.

it should be smoother...
and in time... will smooth up even more.

Thank you. The pinion bearing might have been the culprit. I took everything apart and reassembled it, made sure the bearing was flush as it can be. Now it is good to go.
