Good battery choice for SCX10 platform ?

Recently picked up a Deadbolt...I haven't bought a battery yet, wanted to see what people with experience are using ...what would be a good choice..thanks

I got my Deadbolt not long ago too, and went with a pair of 2S 40C 5000mah batteries from SPC racing. Good price, and the quality on the batteries seems great so far.

These are what I have: SPC LiPo Power, Lithium Polymer (LiPo) Battery Pack; 5000mAh, 40C, 2S, 7.4V Hard-Case, Traxxas

Thanks for the link....how much run time are you getting? I saw they also had 3s lipos not sure if they are worth the extra, or needed

Youll need an external BEC to run 3s on the Deadbolt's stock esc. I use Venom 2000mah 2S's in my honcho. They're good for about an hour of crawling/ trailing.

I use a 5000mah Nimh no problems. Get about an hour of run time.

I've gotten close to an hour with it still going strong. Haven't run them out yet. Also, if you look around the interwebz, SPC has a good reputation. That was why I went with them.

I have used Turnigy from Hobby King for a long time. Never had any issues with them and they sell them in lots of different configurations to fit your needs.

I've got a 5500 mah wild scorpion and a 4400 mah turnigy. Both 2s and between the two I can be out crawling all day with the small group I go with. If I'm doing a ton of flat surface nearly all throttle I get about 50 to 70 minuters each. With the stop and go while slow crawling up rocks and such I can get upwards of three hours per battery.

I run a brushless set up, 25.5t with a SMC 4300mah 2s shorty and I have gotten up to 3 hours of runtime. Not a lot of hot roding just crawling with short spirts of WOT

I've also been running the turnigy brand lipos from hobby king in my deadbolt. Not sure the mah rating but i got 3s soft packs. On a side note why should i get an external bec if i'm running the 3s lipo's I've only run it a few times with the 3s batteries but everything seems to run fine?
