Ok I'll try that to thanks.I'll be painting mine inside and outside the body. What i'm thinking is leaving it clear around the front clip so it won't pull the piant off and you won't see once the paint is applied on top, you'll see...Hey you bought another Nuk body your lucky i here there hard to find and out of stock in most hobby shops...

Wheel wells...
well i guess it has to be done sooner or later....
really not a fan of painting but it has to be done.
first off will be the wheels wells.
This i will be painting inside and out....satin Black.
But before i start i want to make sure i cut this right.
when it come to lexan i try to keep as much plastic for future use.
Like this Axial logo in the inner fender wheel wells.
It must be there for a reason,And I'll make use of it....

This is what it looks like out side the package...

See what I mean,I hate to waste it,could be good for wind sheild...

This what i'm talking about the logo...now what can i do with that...Hmmmmm

Time to get to work....oh wait still waiting on Faskolor paints that i ordered from RCboys i hope it make it past customs..
Customs don't like Aresol cans ship to Canada, but this is water base lexan paint and I'm hoping it will past customs..
It's been a little over a week now and still waiting...
So i guess it's time to cut and trim..

I to save lexan, I use it for scratch builds. The axial log would look cool across a tailgait

Right on man, great idea...I was thinking more like behind the rear window on the nuk it's a perfect fit to.....
And since i'm here i figure i say this.
And ya you never know when your going to need the certain piece of lexan, come in handy
I tried the body on for fitment and the wheel base doesn't line up to the wheel arches. To me it look like it was right on 12"to the wheel arches, it's more like 12.50 now will keep you posted later on to make sure,so I'm in the process of building my own links out of brake tubing and all thread.I had a feeling it was going to happen sooner or later, but it will be much stronger then the mix bunch of links that i had on...
who doesn't have a lot of these things in the parts bin for mock up...

should have the links ready for tomorrow....doing them right now as we speak.....

Default Re: R.N.S Jeep NukNukizer Threaded Links,Brake Tubing Mod

guess is pretty explanatory and it's been done before.
I had no choice but to make all my links.
The body didn't line up to the wheel base, which I thought was 11.75"to 12.00",but in fact turn out to be 12.50".
Plus the added weight of the links make for LCG better then lightweight aluminum,
and it looks better then all of the mixed links that i had on the poor Nuk.
So it took me most of the day with a lot of breaks in between, but I "got dur dun"...
links aren't the easiest thing to do.
There's lot,and I mean a lot,of test fitting is involved, file and hack saw old school
you really have to make sure every thing is square.
When i was test fitting every thing one side was like 12.35 and the other side like 12.50 way off.
Once i got it all line up and test fitted a zillion time and checked both side to make it line up with the body all was good.
I measured it at 12.50 from axle to axle and even measured it criss cross pattern and it line up at 380mm both sides.
So all is square up...i also wet sanded all the links to.I also had to change the shock position last hole in back and the front one forward.
And both drive shaft and to bit extended a bit..

Here's a fine example of what i mean when doing mock up one size is like .13 difference.
Oh ya this is the best tool in my tool box.If you don't have one,get one you won't regret it,a caliper.Really great tool...

I won't show each link be made just one of them...

So here is the proper wheel base of 12.50 about 310 to 312mm.
Again here how she will sit maybe....maybe little higher in front..Mud Slingers.

And here it's siting right on the tires..

I think these are the best choice they are super soft and great tread design.
You can also tell from previous pics how much longer the wheel base is by 1/2 inch...

Low rider...

high rise...

yes. I can't wait to just get it over with... have several colors coming in the mail.I Email the RCboys on ebay and They say not worry it should get here and it's been 2 weeks now, seeing it's the Faskolor paint and water base it should be no problem passing through customs i hope...it very hard to get aerosol cans in the mail so i figured I'd invest in a air brush and it will my first so i hope i don't f**k up lol....
As for the color,I'll know when the colors come in.It will have to go with the Mango rings....you'll see...
what do you think...

Well just reading your thread is making me think about that body! But the front clip has worried me. I've got a dingo that could get rebuilt into the mighty FC. It all hinges on you my friend! Mango rings? Can't wait!

Mighty FC the cab forward ,out of the dingo body.....i to have the gray rtr painted dingo body. Now that I look at it looks pretty similar when looking at it side view.I don't want to disapoint you but looking at the Nuk body it's not all 0.40 thickness there are weak places in the plastic will explain later on...
Even the Axial wheel wells, again"suppose" to 0.40 thickness but no way it that these are thin.I'll get my trusted caliper and it will tell me the thickness.....
Yaaaaa color.....

I hope the spots that are way thin don't mess with the color that bad.

no no,i should be ok.It more like on the bottom of the body where it's really thin. The roof, hood sides and front and rear add on bumpers seem to be nice and thick.
It seem to taper thinner towards the bottom where it's thin.
I'll post pics later on to show you what i mean...

Body,Wheel Wells.
Well before i start I needed to repaint the work area, just looks nicer when I'm taking my photos..
Just to let you know this Part of the build will be slow.
There are some days i don't have time to work on the build and take days off doing other projects around the house.
I fine this is the slowest part of the build to,
just to make sure fit and finish is right on,for me any ways...
There's lighting I still have to install on the body also....And there's the paint scheme.Holy frigg what did i get myself into.
So Before i start trimming,i like to make sure i trim away from the cut line first, seeing it's hard to trim around corners on these wheel wells.
This way it's easier Second time around to make your final cut using Lexan curved scissors and get a nice clean cut.
I also like to sand around the edges using files just to get rid of and burs and a final look over before i paint.
Also it took me many times to check for fit and finish for the wheel wells.
There are some places i wish i didn't cut that could of left alone even if thought we cut or trim on the cut line.
Cause once you cut to much you can put back...As i go I'll point out to what i mean.
So this will be pic heavy...

So clean up and started on the.Oh wait need music...

No turning back now.

Much easier to check with the shook hoop off..

I have to say that these Axial inner fenders #AX31150 are nice.
I think they will work well eliminating dirt from flying inside..Beats trying to make them and trying to figure out the cuts lines.
Anyways I started on the inner fender first once cut and trim the i notice that it didn't fit because of the antenna thingy.

Why is that there does anybody use that any more...Where do use guys put your antenna, well i cut mine off it was in the way..

Here you can see why i had to cut.I could have made a small hole in the inner fender but opt not to.

So once this was done i could place the body over top of the wheel wells to see how much more i have to trim.

Here what i mean i want the wheel well to fit nice and snug up in the body fender, don't what to trim to much.

Here a fine example where it says to cut but i wish i would have left a little more to cover that gap.To late..

Here's it sit test fit again

Time to cut up the body. Here it time to get rid of that front grill.I think i will keep the logo.

Looking at this front grill you can see ghost lines. Are they there for a reason.or is that like double stamp on the mold.
I'm not sure but i figured i will take advantage of this.you see in the 3rd pic to what i mean.

It's kinda hard to tell but you can see the ghost line I'm talking about

Here once all trimmed a temporary install to check for fit and finish.

Little more trimming needs to be done to prevent the tire rub..

Here's another one of those ghost lines just underneath the bumper...

Looking underneath the bumper i wanted to try to keep as much lexan as i can.
The shaded area is to be removed...

here a look what the wheel well looks like under the body

As you can see a little more trimming needs to be made.

Now here I left that piece of lexan just to give the fender a little more support..

Also as i was saying in a earlier post here is where i wish i would have not follow the cut line.
this is where the lexan is really thin at the bottom...I see a crack happening there.
will enforce it with some shoo goo...

Now on to the rear bumper.
I decided to not to cut the top of the rear bumper, and I'm glad i didn't.
This will be a great place to put my light system to sit on.
the shaded area needs to be trimmed.

Just a little more....trimming

OK now here the front bumper is just mock up and pretty much done with that.

What the hell that doing there,oh ya the going to be for my lighting system....

So here how the Nuk sit now now as a roller

Wheel are done, just a little more tweaking...

Almost done just a few more pics...lol.in the second pic I trimmed a little to much ,I'll have to fix that.

A pic of the body underneath..

Almost done.In this pic here is where my lighting system will be mounted perfect spot, just needs a little reinforcement..
it is actually the rear bumper..who new.

Well that it for now...
