You use metal brake line tubing or you can use solid rods usually 1/8" or 3/16" diameter. Most people braze with silver solder but another good way is tig welding which is my favorite but I do a lot of welding and you could mig weld. But if you're not a welder brazing is a great start. And you bend it with a small tube bender you can pick up on amazon or some auto stores and hardware stores selling them.

Yep there are threads about "how to braze" on here or Google or youtube it. Definitely a lot of fun. You can make bumpers, rock sliders, rear cages, exo cages pretty much whatever you want.

Well I've decided to do a different hard body no more Hilux there are just to many of them. So I'm gunna do a custom body either a clod crew cab or f350 crew cab but not sure if I want to keep a bed on it or dove tail it or just build a tubed rear end.

I know it's been awhile with an update date but I finally got around to ordering some parts and assembling the chassis. Having a newborn really doesn't leave me much time to tinker around. I've decided I will be making my own links.

Parts that came in:
SSD chubs
SSD steering kit
Axial rear straight axles
Axial shock hoops tree kit
Knk bolt kit
Tamiya hard clod body

Congrats on the new baby girl! Good looking build. Having a new child can present challenges for getting RC time, but there are ways of fitting it in.

I would usually take my youngest on a four mile stroll, and about halfway along the walk, when I reached a nice little park area, she'd fall asleep, and I would be able to run an RC for one whole battery before she woke up.

When she got big enough to slip into a backpack, I was able to go on short hikes/trail runs.

Picked up some stock deadbolt 1.9s with Maxxis Trepadors for a really good deal so I'll run these for a while then buy some scaler wheels later on.

'Grats on the baby daughter. My children were "pre-aged" by the time they entered my life, so they are lower maintenance. They do seem to have an interest in their step-father's RC hobby, though.
