Those are SEXY! Can't wait to see what you do for the front!

Good to know! Never knew this. Wonder if VP would sell as a package as piecing it together ends up more than a preassembled set.

I'm working with them to have it that way. To buy them pre packaged.

But then you still just have a CVD. The real benefits come from the universal joint.

Would a dual cardan joint:
a. Increase smooth steering even more than the universals?
b. Fit?
c. Be sturdy enough for this application (& maybe driveshafts on short wheelbase trucks)?

Would help increase operational angles but fitting a DC in that space would weaken things and just isnt practical.

A real cvd would be ideal but probably not practical. Rather give up a couple degrees in steering than breakage

I have the xr mod done on mine and the only problem i had was the axle was stripping in the steel locker and or snapping. so i just kept welding the axles shafts and grinding until they had a really tight fit in the steel lockers with have been striped and broke and its held up like a champ so far and i beat the piss out of mine with a 3300kv 3s brushless setup. and i have rediculess steering angle.

FI spools from Locked up will eliminate the play at the shaft and locker engagement completely.
The XR steering is very nice. The new universals offered in this truck are a much better improvement than previous axial versions and have much more steering. More so than even the XR mod. I opted to forgo XR mod on my custom ar44 housings and went with the universals for this reason. There's no comparison on the turning radius with these new shafts.

I've gone over this extensively with Ikaika @ The Crawl Space.. We have tried every combo , Nothing is going to work.. HOWEVER

If we get a beeftube that has the AR44 spline , A beeftube made for SCX axles, Or the TKO for that matter. We would then just need some Vanquish AR44 Knuckles and Chubs, Whenever those make an appearance.. Voila. No more cutting XR shafts.. A "bolt on" option .. Finally.

Nice. If you trim that stock knuckle on the front and back a bit, You can get a few more * of throw

I'm praying Vanquish trims their design ..

I'm happy with it and needs a stop to keep the joints happy and durable.
Couldn't believe how much sharper it turned than the narrow XR mod which is no slouch.

The NC60 axles from BowHouse RC are available too and let you do all of this out of the box

Can you clarify narrow xr mod and what exactly you did there?

Is that an scx10 housing with beef tubes that accept wraith chubs?

I'm was really just interested in whether or not the AR44 axles were a direct replacement for SCX10 stock.

Sounds like the chub is the issue

Sent from a device in my hand that is smarter than me, and I don't know WTF I'm doing.

I'm trying to find a drop in shaft that I don't have to cut for my narrow xr mod.

Right now I'm running rcbros splined tubes with wraith Knucks and chubs with xr 10 shafts cut down and a hot racing set screw style locker.

Since my shafts are hand cut they don't clamp into the locker perfectly so my ring and pinion bind. I'm looking for some buttery smooth.

I ordered some ar44 universals hoping they would just drop in, haha.

Here is my cut xr next to the ar44 universal.

I haven't tried installing them yet cause it looks like the joint on the ar44 is slightly smaller.
Looking at the pics above, those look like wraith knuckles and chubs and it looks like the inner bearing seat on the universal isn't seated properly, so now I'm wondering if that matters.

Next step is to try installing these and see what happens

I tried installing the scx10 2 shafts and they are too short for my setup, the axle shafts only made contact with 1/16" of the incision spool.

That isn't enough for the kind of digs I like doing!

I need some shafts, I saw dlux has some but it seems like the price up there. I prefer the universal.
I'll have to check out the nc60 axles, I haven't seen these yet..

I was really hoping this would work. I have xr chubs and knuckles on some ssd diamond axles. Just ordered some cutdown xr universals from beeftubes and hope they work right. The 2.0 axles would be a nice alternate if I could find a way to make them work.

Hi Folks, I saw an XR mod Phat Axel with shafts steel Axel housings you just have to add your chubs and knuckles and diff locker I think.

Ok. So I tried putting in the 2.0 universals in my rig that normally runs cut down xr universals. The narrow version. The axles did not seem to fully engage in the locker. Maybe the 2.0 has a wider locker I'm not sure. The axles also started to bind with little steering. I do think they would get you out of trouble if that's all you could come up with in case of a breakage. It does bolt right in but you would need to turn down steering endpoints. Just my little experiment for the night. Now I know what will happen.
