Default SCX10 Rebuild

So after getting tired of waiting to get my hands on a SCX10 II kit, I decided to just rebuild my old SCX10 G6. I went with all new SSD links, Panhard bar, bumper, and axles. Also picked up VP aluminum tranny case, and method wheel 105 width. Pitfall tires and foams, and a new body.

Since i just joined the forum, I didn't get any of the build in the process but I did take some after pics. I love how everything turn out but I'm stuck on the new body. My old body is orange to match my 1 to 1 jeep but I really love the Gun Metal color. I have done most of the body but was wanting some feedback from you on what you think before I switch all the lights and cage over.

I think I'm leaning that way.

I'm also voting for gunmetal.

How did you install the tail lights on the original body?

I drilled out the holes with a step bit to the size where I could snap in some axial light buckets. Then hot glued them for reinforcement. I think its more scale than the lexan light buckets that come with the kit. I'll take some more detail pics when I transfer everything over.

Here are pics.

Then I snap in the buckets and throw some hot glue. Works great.

Looks sweet! And a much nicer way to do body lights than I've seen before. Thank you for posting the pictures -- I'll give it a try on my G6!

Sweet build! To late to trim it with the orange that matches your 1:1? Then, you could trim your 1:1 with gun metal gray. Kind of a negative image type of thing.

...to much?

What did you expect? I'm a newbie!

Wish I had the funds to respray my 1:1 in gun metal. Really love this color.

Finally had some time to wire up the lights.

Also added a fuel line.

Hopefully I can get some pics of it on some rocks in the next couple of days.

Took a short test run in the backyard this evening. New SSD axles are awesome and the Pitbull Growlers have tons of grip. Really happy with the gunmetal.

Had a little time today to put the bikini top on the G6.

I think all that is left is to find me a driver. Any suggestions?

I'm sporting Walking Dead's Rick Grimes, had to chop him in half mid torso ( ironic isnt it, apocalyptic survivor gets chopped in half and is ok!?-lol, plus we share same 1st name-Rick) to get it t work. I'd post pics but am on the low end of learning curve on how to. Any rate love the new squirt of color!

Thanks. I was just at the toy store and almost pull the trigger on that dude. Walked out with nothing. May go back and pick him up.

So I got a 35 turn motor to switch out my 27t. Got it all mounted up and when I plugged in my battery to test it out, my AE-5 went up in smoke. It was the weirdest thing. Anyway, got another one on order.
