Default SCX10 KOH Rock Racer

Was going through my spare parts to find some ball ends and decided to see how much of a RC I could build only using my spare parts.

Started out with some Axial SCX10 frame rails from a past build that I had cut off about a half inch off the rear, SCX10 axles, and some STRC yeti trailing arms with shorter ball ends.

Decided I'd use the Boom Racing phat axles that I won from Axialfest this year, and load it up with some Cow Rc udder butter.

Finally got the rear end mounted up with some CBERC link tabs to adjust the anti-squat.

Tried out some Vaterra Ascender shocks and decided on using a Proline Racing Yeti Raptor body so I had to lengthen out the rear end using the leftover plastic trailing arms and upper links from my Bomber. What's a KOH rig without some mean looking tires? I happen to be a tire hoarder, so I have a set of 5 Proline 1.9 Baja KR2's with some cheap 2.2 eBay wheels mounted up.

After watching YouTube videos and looking at some KOH pictures on Pinterest, I needed some name brand shocks. I swapped out my Ascender shocks for a set of Kings that were on another build, used 100mm's in the back and 90mm ones in the front. I also removed the rear shock frame X support, made a shock tower brace, chopped off the remaining frame rails after the rear shock towers, and lopped off the sides of the rear upper axle link mount. Tons of rear up travel now!

Got the Axial Racing Yeti cage mounted up and it sits perfect on the wheelbase, I'm really liking the 1.9 rock racer look.

Very cool. I love hybrid Frankenstein retrofit builds like this. Keep it going.

I think I've decided on a body for this, I've always thought it looked ugly on the Yeti but for this it may have some potential...

I'll probably end up hacking the top off of it.

Nice choice on the Jeep.

I had the same though when I put my unused Yeti cage on top of a in-progress SCX10. Unfortunately, nothing more resulted from that experiment but it looks like I'll get to see what could have been.

I know you're going to be jealous of my fab skills, LOL. made my own ESC mount using a wraith ESC plate, axial links, and some ball ends.

Figured out the battery mount, found a Jevne Racing battery plate for the SCX10 and had to notch the front of it a bit to get the cage to fit. At this point I was able to get the electronics installed and fire up the beast…

It's running a sensored Hobbywing 13.5T motor and ESC and a 16T pinion. Nice combination of wheelspeed and controlled slow crawling.

Also received the Proline Rubicon Yeti body. Cut it up and and got it mounted. I also won a ScalerFab front stinger so I mounted that up and bolted a RC4WD Warn winch to it.

That thing is killer! A 1.9 Rock Racer may be in my future now! Great work. Any ideas on color?

Thanks! I'm thinking about painting it like Poison Spyder's Crispy

but maybe in white, gunmetal, and the spider in blue.

Everyone that sees this truck will not be able to comprehend how it's even remotely possible that your Yeti can crawl. Utter disbelief.

Default Parts Bin SCX10 Rock Racer

Got some paint on it and a couple stickers…

I really hate the fender shape but when it articulates, the shape of the fenders really help quite a bit, no rubbing at all up front, function over form I guess. I also had to trim the bottom of the body because it hung past the frame rails, sucks cause I found this out after placing the spiders on it, might have to cut a bit more off of it, oh well they're cheap at rpp.

Couple shots from driving it yesterday, also got some video footage that I'm editing right now.

Exclamation That is awesome

I am completely new to this and picked up a Deadbolt...however the guy I bought it from, bought it from someone else and they did not give him the spare parts bag....I want to do LEDs and need the light grilles etc to do the front and rear lights...perhaps you may have those lying around, considering you made a whole car...AMAZING stuff!!!

Took it out for it's shakedown run and ran it hard, nothing broke and it did really well, very impressed with it!

The RC4WD King Shocks definitely need some shock oil to help with the bounciness.

Love the mash up work. Great minds can do great things with parts on hand. Summons the builder in all of us.
