Yes, the Vanquish CVDs work well. I too had clearance issues with some no name units. Tolerances are just not tight enough on the cheapo stuff. The bearing flange on the ones I had was too wide causing binding. Then I ponied up for the Vanquish and never looked back.

Will this kit help with the shocks only going to half stoke before hitting the steering arm?

No this won't change that. Our chassis mounted steering with bent links helps with that.
