Smile Leaf spring on Scx10

Hello everyone, I am on a project to make my Scx10-II Super realistic ( It seems to me that the frame is the same as the scx10 ). I would like to install leaf springs at the front and back as soft as possible. The leaf springs will be compensated by an internal spring shock.

Most people seem to take the RC4WD kit for the TrailFinder and get it to fit on the scx10. I would like to know how to do it, and what part I have to buy to make no mistake! Thank you very much!

If you're talking a super realistic XJ, only the rear needs leafs. And here is my take on it so far

All of it.

In all seriousness, leafs change things dramatically, but with a bit of tuning, you can still have a ton of fun. I actually like the challenge.

You gain stability where you lose articulation. I've never had a tf2 or other leaf spring hardbody, but once I get it a bit further along I'll start an actual build and driving impressions thread.

Take the spacer out. Glue some styrene and shape it like the gmade axle. Drill a hole and bam you're done. Worked great on a ssd d60 axle I did.

Spacer? You mean the spring perch/shock mount?

That would leave me without a place to mount shocks... Unless I just run a bolt through the hole where it is attached and mount a shock to that. Might work. I got the GCM mounts cause they solve those two issues simultaneously though, and add low weight cause they're metal.

These are Sawback. I have K44 bolts coming from RC4WD to try on my new XJ build.

What axle is that in the picture

Ok. Question. Im planning on using the ssd pro44 axles. And converting rear only to leafs for now.. im assuming the rc4wd shackle kit. Im unsure what leafs,u-bolts, and spring perches to use. Truck is a scx10 ii trail honcho being converted to f350 crewcab.. not going for massive flex. Mostly tow rig.

That is a Beef Tubed AR44, with GCM Shapeways leaf perch. Sawback U-bolts as I said, Chino leaf springs (he doesn't make them anymore, but they're the same dimensions as RC4WD, and RC4WD shackles and hangers.

The GCM Shapeways perches will work perfectly for you because I assume you'll want to retain vertical shocks.

I too am messing around with the Pro44s for another build.

I don't recall what the back end of an F350 looks like underneath, are the shocks canted in between the frame rails like the XJ? If so, the perch on my Pro44 in my last post is what you'll want, and I made that with some aluminum angle.
