Default Spur Gear stripped

Hey guys. Today I adjusted my spur Gear as per the instructions. When I bought the truck it was tightened fully so I back it off 1.5 turns.
Then I took my truck out and I heard the slipper slip and then my spur was stripped.

Should I be running it full tight or as per the manual?

Forgot to mention my truck is a g6 falken edition. Pretty much stock except for axial metal 4 link front and rear, metal steering links and battery moved to the front.

So I'll need to grab a 32 pitch Pinion to?
Do they make those spurs closer to 80t. Pretty happy with the speed I've got at the moment

I wouldn't go much larger than a 60 tooth. Go down to a 13 tooth or 12 tooth pinion if you want a bit slower..

Yes you could get these in 32 or stuck with the 48 pitch. 32 is a bit louder but much stronger

Looked at the manual Axial Racing - SCX10 and did not see where does it say how to adjust the spur gear (I assume you mean slipper clutch)? I would say you should run it more loose if using those same components because if I understand correctly then the slipper should slip and protect other stuff from breaking. Was pinion and spur gear mesh ok?

Sounds like the mesh may have been a little loose.

Adjusting the slipper so it slips means it protects the spur and internal gearbox gears. It's false economy as it's more expensive to replace anyway.

The only way to strip the spur with the stock setup is to have it too lose. Adjust correctly as even with a big motor on 3S treated like total crap they don't strip.

That sounds like a motor adjustment issue unless there was something wrong with the spur bearing and the slipper was taking up the slack.
