Default King Shocks - bleeding

Is there a trick to better bleed the King Shocks? I bought a 100m pair for my honcho and cant seem to get them just right. They work good but the last 1/8th inch doesn't fully compress easy. I watched a ton of videos and one guy made slits through the threads to act as a bleeding system, is there a better way? Thanks in advance.
