New tierod = broken knuckles?

If I ditch the flimsy plastic tierod am I guaranteed to break the knuckles or c hubs? Sometimes flexible is good lol.

It's used for rock crawling, lots of stress put on it, strong servo installed.

the weakest parts on an scx10 are the c-hubs, knuckles and all the plastic links. just upgrade those and you should be good.
i heard if you run brushless then upgrading to metal gears and metal drive shafts is necessary, i dont run brushless but change those parts to make sure they dont break when enjoying the trail.

Sooner or later they will break, but it's not going to be the instant you hit the power switch. My kit came with aluminum steering and lower links. Stock plastic chubs and knuckles held up just fine for heavy trailing, even surviving flipping and rolling a good 50feet down a dam embankment. I have since upgraded, but was for performance.
