Default Brainstains SCX10 Tuber

I got this guy used off of Ebay for a helluva deal. The description was pretty vague but I took a chance since it came with a Futaba 4PL that I could put right back on eBay and get half my money back. Just from a first glance when opening the box I could see VVDs, King shocks, Vanquish high steer knuckles, aluminum rear lockouts, aluminum Chubs, MIPs, custom links, a steel spur setup, a nice Savox servo, a winch and a light bar.

Started the project with these China 1.9s and some RC4WD boggers I already had laying around.

A little bit of a mess later and I had some cut boggers.

Next was the aluminum body panels. Not sure on color yet but I got them all cut out, drilled and bent. The panels are made from .024 flashing that I make RC derby bodies out of. Thin enough to work by hand but thick enough that it should be sturdy. I added a little brow to the front window and a lip to the rear to give the roof panel some shape as opposed to a flat piece plopped on top.

Something told me that even though this ran and drove to take it apart and check everything before I took it out on a real trip. I pulled the driveshafts and found that the outputs on the transmission had a lot of wobble in them. I figured since the bearings looked a little rough I'd replace them. That was not the problem..

I sold my 1.9 Wraith chassis to a buddy and had some stuff laying around that needed a new home. Since my transmission was half junk and I happen to have 5-6 laying around I just swapped in the whole trans from that truck. This included some HR light weight gears. I also put the MMP and Holmes motor from that truck into this one.

Threw a bunch of parts at this recently. New SSD D60 housings, VP VVDs, VP chubs, hi steer knuckles, rear lockouts and some new RC4WD Wranglers. Still waiting on my flat skid to get here.

I hated the wideners so I went ahead and did the XR mod. The front went great.

The rear didn’t go as well. I stepped up 1/64 at a time but I guess I either got the housing too hot or got the drill bit in there at an angle. Either way I blew through the top side of the axle.
