Boom Racing AR44 PHAT Diffs I recently swapped out my stock scx10 front and rear diff assemblies with the Boom Racing A444 PHAT Diffs for the SCX10 2. These axles keep the weight down low and allow for much better clearance. However, the gearing of these axles are obviously different than the stock SCX10 axles because my rig is now much slower. I'm running a 35T motor with stock 13 tooth pinion and 56 tooth spur. I've noticed the motor is getting warmer with these new axles. Looking to see if anyone else has made this swap and what I should be changing my gearing to. Thanks! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...47934ecbcf.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3c10d41e64.jpg |

Re: Boom Racing AR44 PHAT Diffs As far as I can see, you have an original scx10 and now the v2 axles, these do have a different gearing so you should get a pinion with les teeth. You could have a look in the manual for the v2 honcho or Jeep Wrangler rtrmto see which gearing is used. These cars run the same gearbox and axle gearing like you have now. Hope this helps |
Re: Boom Racing AR44 PHAT Diffs You would have to bump up to a 16 or 17 tooth pinion to get back to your stock speed, but if your motor is getting warmer that's a little off and could mean there's binding somewhere in the driveline. I would move the motor/pinion off the spur gear and then spin your axles to check for binding or resistance, maybe put it on the ground and roll it as well just to see. |
Re: Boom Racing AR44 PHAT Diffs Thanks for the feedback. I noticed that my ESC was programmed for only 75% speed...I bumped it back up to 100% and I have more than enough speed now! |
