Recommending a brushless system really depends on what you are looking for out of the new system and how much you want to spend. Generally, you can't go wrong with the Castle Mamba X for the ESC (waterproof, strong built in BEC, has all the adjustments needed for a crawler) . The Mamba Micro X is good for lighter trucks with lower KV motors (540 sized 2200ishkv motors) if you run an external BEC. There are lots of cheap brushless ESCs on the market but they generally lack the adjustments or low end resolution that a crawler would want. If you are limited on budget, I would get a good ESC and save some money on a lesser motor.

As for motors, I pretty much run either Holmes or Tekin motors as they are designed for low speed control and smoothness. Castle's Slate motors are a pretty good value for the money but lack the low end refinement and overall power of the Holmes and Tekin offerings. If you are happy with the wheelspeed of the 27T brushed motor in there now, you will want something around 2200kv.

For something different and not too expensive, consider the Holmes 1800kv Revolver with a Castle Sidewinder 4. It is an unsensored setup but feels as smooth as a brushed motor and has a ton of torque. The only down side is the Revolver make some rather unique noises, Holmes has a video of the motor in action so you can hear what I mean.

Axle mounted servo works better than CMS. The latter is for those scale points really [emoji106]
Any particular reason to look at brushless?
HW1080 is a great ESC and will save you a ton of cash. Has a good internal BEC and waterproof...
