Default Crazed SCX10 Deadbolt "BFD"

Picked up a deadbolt while surfing on black Friday..

This became a Christmas gift for the wife, so maybe she will come out and try out some of "Crazed Acres" with me.

None of my stuff stays stock for long, so this will become a build thread I'm sure. I have quite a few things sitting around from when my SCX10 was a Deadbolt, before the Toyzuki V1 conversion.

Anyway...pics!

After harassing the dogs she climbed into her kennel, then back out, fun stuff.

And a video...

Even tho I like the way a stock deadbolt drives I cannot leave anything alone. So I had picked up some things for my SCX10 Toyzuki, bet they seemed good for this rig too..

Last look at the stock axle..

Tearing Down a rear Axle..

New Goodness..

Congratulations on your new toy. The stock tires look great. Are they maxxis trepador?

Can't wait to see where you take this build. I was also suckered by the Deadbolt deal and picked up 2. One for a buddy and one for my lady. Kinda hit a wall in the progress department but hoping to tackle some more this weekend. "Project 10.2ish Deadbolt" if you (or anyone reading) is my thread for it. Keep up the good work!!

Sweet! I agree about working on them too. I'm an Ascender guy (duh) as far as my go-to rig is concerned and I was kicking myself for not taking advantage of the discounts Horizon had running on kits but these original SCX trucks, even in RTR form, are essentially kits with the amount of parts I have to swap in to get them to a performance and durability point I'm happy with. Finally supposed to be warming up from the sub-0* F stretch we've been stuck in, so I might try to get the new Deadbolt out for a test soon.

Hope to get the rear axle in tonight, my son came over for some late Christmas action and I was showing him the rig, but cant drive with a ssd axle and a oem axle cause they turn in opposite directions

This is happiness right here, some rc stuff to tinker with, a couple fingers of a really good bourbon, and a show to watch....

Anyway...
Both axles together..

Front Axle in...Tie rod is temporary, I had a SSD CMS kit sitting around from my first Deadbolt that later became my Toyzuki V1..

Parked...

Thinking of getting the Incision gearset for the tranny, Wondering if I should Flip/Mirror the trans while I am at it?

Looking good! I'm kinda stalled out on my Deadbolt build at the moment. My work space in the basement exploded with overflow everything but the plan is to take that space back this weekend. Keep up the good work!

Those axle housings look great.Any plans for metal suspension links?
I should have bought the DeadBolt for the body.I picked up a chassis, trans and axles slider off eBay and added the upgrades to that.I would like to pick up a clear DeadBolt body and cage.
Nothing more relaxing than sitting in front of the table full of parts, tools, tiny screws and a beverage!

Yeah It will get metal links, I kinda want to hear her say that it needs them, so maybe she will "get" the upgrade thing..

Thanks for all of those pics of the SSD CMS kit. Now I understand why a 3 link is used for this kit. I've been trying to squeeze a servo on the frame rail inside of the 4 link setup and have been constantly hitting the 4 link mount.

I haven't got her outside with hers yet, but she is playing in the house with it a little.

I picked up an Axial inner fender kit..

So tearing it down again..

Trimming and fitting..

Some black paint..

Needs some trimming for width..

Trimmed..

Looks much better and should keep the crud out..

Done..

Now for something you can actually see...
