I can tell you my 10 year old daughter beat the heck out of my wife running an scx10 while my wife ran an scx10.2 this last weekend on a local trail run. Leave it up to you guy's to decide if it was the driver or truck |

The large axle housing is the OG scx's biggest downside. While good driving and careful line selection can make up for it to an extent, it's hard to argue that the deeper gear reduction and smaller housing are an advantage. In the end the dog is plenty capable, it's just that the newer axle design adds a bit more capability. I still have, and occasionally run, my JK scx. It's like old reliable at this point. |

Yea I still run mine. And use it as a loaner vehicle to anyone that doesnt have a rig or has one that is broke down when they come over or we go to a crawl spot. Still works well. Only real downside is the larger center section on the axles like was mentioned.

Dinosaur? Nah. Our 10.1 Deadbolt is my favorite car to drive, honestly. The OG axles really don't seem to hold it back much. Recently swapped in a VS410 chassis and it's a whole new animal, I'd put it up against most 10.2-based cars out there

Just got this one up and running recently. Even on 1.7s, as stated earlier, line selection goes a long way. Now she's on 1.9 TTCs, and still going strong. I say if you can get an OG SCX10 for a good deal, snap it up. Unless you're competing, who really cares if you need to plan your lines a little more thoughtfully? A little bump of throttle is usually all I need to skip over diff-hangers in the old girl. The best cure for diff clearance, in my opinion, is HUGE TIRES! |

RC ATHLETES, on YouTube, recently bought a used SCX10 and restored it, and mounted his old Betty B-17 body on it. Fun to watch. I've been working on clearing my woods of bramble and making trails, but the dirt is so loose and damp(I live in Western Washington) that I've been thinking I'd like to build up one of my old SCX10's to devote as a mud truck of sorts. Hard to beat the simplicity of a basic SCX10...and easier to clean! I've also got quite a few hop-ups that I never got around to using, because newer models came out and stole my attention.

Dinosaur mud monster. I don’t plan on retiring this old truck any time soon. |

How much of that is OG though haha. Are they still making aftermarket parts other than what is interchangeable?

Kind of makes me want to buy about $5k worth of 10ii specific hop up parts, leave them all in the wrappers, and flip on Ebay in 2030 |

Outdated or not I still use my scx10. I still have a new ii in the box that I’ll get around to building one of these days.
