| Cat's Unimog 2.0
Took last year off of crawling/trail runs to get into 1/14 RC construction equipment (if you thought crawlers were expensive... ). My wife and I got a puppy so we know we will be hiking a lot more, decided to get the trail rigs back ready. The Unimog was in desperate need of a rebuilt/revamp. As I disassembled the truck I realized how bad of shape it was in, gotta step up my routine maintenance game going forward. Figured I would try and document my rebuild starting with a pre-disassembly pic and build scope. Build will consist of some new parts, some used parts, and some spare parts from old builds. Might also get around to installing portals if money allows. 1. Install HH Brushless system from my old wraith 2. New Incision slipper eliminator and Incision SCX10 tranny output set 3. HR 56 tooth 32P steel spur, RR absolute hardened 9 tooth pinion 4. RC4WD punisher steel drive shaft from tranny to transfer case 5. Axial spiral bevel gear set and Incision spools 6. MIP wraith drive shafts (if they fit) 7. New CI single stage foams and Fresh RC4WD ground hawg II tires (tires are pretty close tread pattern to the agriculture tires that would be on this thing IRL) 8. New HeyOK light controller, headlights, and light bar. New LED harness 9. New bearings, hardware, shock rebuilds, etc. 10. Repair/refresh body and add a few more details. 11. New complete frame/skid plate 12. Redesigned bumpers front and back |

Got the new tires/foams on! These definitely could pass as agricultural tires. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Can’t wait to get out this year again. Got everything washed. Started with the transmission and motor on the GCM front plate. Also got the transfer case serviced and rebuilt the front universals. Decided to get a new frame set as well to freshen up the build. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That body is awesome! Where did you get it or what's it off of? Looking foreword to seeing those tires under it because I have a feeling they'll look sweet BTW what are your thoughts on the HH puller pro?

So I got it off of eBay. It doesn’t seem that they sell the exact one it got, just a day cab with a tipper body. They do sell a 4 door fire truck and a day cab “rally” version. Search 1/10 Unimog hardbody and should come up. The motor isn’t a pulled pro, just a trail master 540 brushless. Was in my wraith for along time and was an awesome piece. Was plenty of power for the 2.2 wraith and should be more than enough for the Unimog. I’d be worried about destroying drivetrains with the puller pro 550 now. Also, got some more done today! Now on to shocks, hopefully I can rebuild them, really don’t feel like dropping more money on this just yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Life can get a bit busy so I had to take a break from this truck. Big steps today, got the shocks rebuilt and swapped out the front ones for slightly longer but thinner king shocks from my old wraith. Got the axles on and driveshafts in. Couldn’t resist bolting on the axles and sitting the cab on to the frame. Now on to bumpers and body work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

| Re: Cat's Unimog 2.0 Thank you! On to the body got a lot of holes to fill. Also decided to move the lights and turn signals to the grill like some of the rally mogs I’ve seen. Also added an exhaust on the correct euro side. On to final sanding and masking before paint. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Got the body painted, it didn’t go as planned and I have some imperfections and blemishes in the paint. Granted I don’t have the motivation to sand down and do it again. This is a Unimog after all, wear and tear is to be expected. I’ll probably scratch the paint on the first run anyway. Also started working on the front bumper, going for high clearance. Will have swivel shackle mounts and a fair lead for the chassis mounted winch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have a set of those LURC wheel "covers" as well as those same RC4WD tires! They look perfect on there, and your Mog itself is jaw-dropping... Damn cool fuel tank, exhaust pipe with heat shield, and cage work... I've also got one of those emergency flasher lights, but no good rig to use it on. Can't wait to see this rig completed! |

Thank you! Once LURC released the commander covers I knew instantly I had to have them at any cost. So glad I got a set. To be honest I can’t take credit for the exhaust or fuel tank. Fuel tank came with the cab body and the exhaust is from Lesu. I can’t wait for it to be completed. Won’t be fully complete till I get those SCX10 III portals under it though... got to wait for some take offs to come on to the market. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sorry for the lack of updates, few things threw me off this project. After going for an RC run with our dog and my wife it kicked me in the butt to get this build finished. Was going to wait till I got my hands on a 12V servo but I lost my patience. I’ll have to retro fit it in when they become available. Last night I figured out my electronic locations and started my wiring. I hope to have a moving chassis this evening. Then I have to finish modifying the bed and getting the lights hooked up. I hope to have it done before the weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

So I never updated this topic once I got it running. Honestly ran it once and put it away. Was unhappy with the bed and rear fenders, not to mention the straight SCX10 axles. Not exactly prototypical for a mog. Got some cash for Christmas and thought I’d buy some axial SCX10 iii axles. Priced them out on RPP and fell over in my chair, over 400 bucks. Did some searching on eBay and found complete metal axle set for much cheaper from KYX. Gonna try them out. Can’t wait to get some portals underneath this mog! Also gonna cut up the bed and design some new fenders to boot! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Axles came in, really nice pieces. Downside was I realized that my wheel setup wouldn’t work with the the portals on the SCX10.3 axles. Thankfully I was able to order a set of new internal headlock wheels from LURC. Got the links sorted in the mean time, took some piecing together to get everything to work on the front. Waiting on new shocks and wheels at this point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Looking good! Definitely more "Mog like" My farmer neighbor up the street has a yellow one, I see it on occasion trundling through the fields towing stuff. Always a cool sight! |
