Obnoxious lift (done for the most part. Dropped the tranny and shocks as low as I think they should be to achieve that ‘sky high, you ruined the truck’ look)

New shocks for stiffer ride: thinking Desert Lizard 120mm and I will locate them wherever I need for this height to keep shaft angle good

Upgrade axles- either some budget metal housings or rebuild these and add beef tubes

Better servo when I kill this one

2.2 Fling Kings on Jconcepts Dragons

Paint my other body for a shelf queen look, something with heavy metal flake and all the chrome, paint the dragon inserts to match

Use this body for go, the other for show.

Slap these 1.9 Boggers on the Capra if I go that route (likely)

Here is Phase 1. The lift is dirt simple, just huge brackets for good angles:

First off, I really like the weathering you did! It literally looks perfect! Also like the white fender. How did you weather it so good?

Back on track.

definitely want a stiffer ride.

1:1 monster trucks just bounce when landing from a jump instead of absorbing. I think it would be sick to see a RC do that!

Those fling kings will fit perfectly with the monster truck style.

Can’t wait to start seeing more progress

The fender is just primered. I misted it with some flat black from about a foot away while it had some decals on it, decided I didn’t like the decals, so pulled them off and they left that impression. Was going to fix it but it looks like random primered patches now so leaving it. Mud will cover it after the next outing anyways. The passenger rear quarter is primered too. Looks like a truck assembled from random parts which is what I was going for. The other body will get a nice paint job with a mud truck/monster truck name on the doors like “Mud Pie Maker”or something similarly stupid.

Shelf Queen mode, sort of Harley Davison theme.

Ripped one of my motor solder joints off while messing with the lift brackets so she’s dead in the water, will redo them this weekend if I have time. Then slap the beater body on and let her eat.

Came out decent as long as you don’t hold it up to sunlight lol. I learned a lot and the body was free so good practice. Figured out what I need to do on the next one to make it perfect. This polycarbonate is nice and clear which helped a lot.

This looks really good!

Did you use chrome paint or was the trim already chrome?

Trim was chrome plated. I painted it white on the other one.

Fixed the motor and took it for a romp, all is good. It’s running really well but I think I’m going to try 3s to regain some wheel speed. It has plenty of torque though.

The fancy paint job didn’t grow on me so I already changed it. Also decided I don’t like the inside of the body painted, it has a toy effect possibly due to the “clear coat” being too thick in appearance. I think it looks worst on a red truck but orange was bad too. So went with a simple single color, it’s brighter, and says “Chevy truck” now haha. May add a design later or sponsor stickers but for now digging the simplicity.

For those of you counting along that makes 3 bodies and 6 different paint jobs on this chassis . Next up is a Fling King swap. Will save these bead locked boggers for next project (hint: it will be a somewhat scale crawler, have narrowed it down to Traxxas TRx4 and sCX10III but only if they offer a kit with the straight axles. I like the offset pumpkin more than the 10.2 version but not wanting to ‘upgrade’ a new kit right off the bat. If I have to go portals it probably won’t be Axial).

I have a basic plan for my next build. I want scale, mild performance, and reliability. Something I can hike with but is fun to look at.

SSD Trail King kit
RC4WD lwb 4 door Mojave body
1.9 TSLs
Chinesium bead locks
Scale winch of some sort
Winch bumper, maybe no rear bumper haven’t decided. Will probably bob the rear too. Also fill the mounting holes in body prior to paint, mount with magnets or Velcro. Paint will be flat/faded slight weathering but not rusty and all of that.
Holmes sport motor
ESC, servo tbd. Probably a savoxx and HW1080 or something similar
Probably another tactic controller if I can’t bind the one I have to 2 receivers, looking into that.

I will start a build thread when I start buying parts. May get the body first just for inspiration.

I can’t wait for this! I love the Mojave, especially the crew cab.

Just please don’t do Hawaiian style whatever you do lol.

Monster mud truck is cool looking but boring. Does one thing lol. Dropped this bad boy back down and busted out the sawzall for big tarz. It still looks tall, but it isn’t. The motor/tranny are so low that the links are flat. So CG is fantastic, we will see how skid clearance fares. But it crawls like a goat on steroids, I almost snapped the rear shaft though so will be buying a better one.

Broke out Ye Olde Airbrush for fake dusty look until I can accumulate real dusty look. Makes the boggers look more boggerish. Ordered some scale sponsor stickers that should add 30hp or so.
