Default Project Clod Hopper

This is going to be a somewhat drawn out build as money permits. Everything in this build is either stuff I already have on hand, have wheeled and dealed for or built myself

SCX10 roller
Castle SV3
Integy 35t
Spektrum DX2E
Clodbuster body
Pitbull Growlers
RC4WD steelies

Some similar sized 1.9s for reference

It looks like I need to add some length to the links. I moved the skid forward a bit so I could use the same length links front and rear. Eventually I'll build some tube bumpers and some boatside sliders and possibly do at least a partial exo cage. I may even do a floor and inner wheel wells.

Ditched the Axial plastic bumpers. They're not finished but this is what I have so far.

I'm tack welding them with a MIG welder. I'd rather braze them but I don't have an Oxy/acetylene rig yet.

Mapp gas works well for brazing as well and is much cheaper than oxygen/acetylene.

I really dig your build so far man, I started a clod body build years ago and never finished it. Seeing your rig makes me wish I had.

I thought about MAPP but an oxy/acetylene rig would be more useful for me for other hobbies as well.

Got the wheelbase set.

Now I gone and done it.

The start of my bed cage/upper shock mounts/spare tire carrier/roll bar/body mount.

Not sure if I'm going to use this anymore, another idea struck me so this may go into my next Clod build.

Few more pieces of tubing taking shape.

This being my first go around doing this much tube work I'm blown away with how much tubing is used. I started out with 4' length and went through the rather quick and then went and bought another 10' length and have about 2' of that left and I know that won't be enough. to top it all off I accidentally left the gas valve open on my welder and now I need to get that filled before I can do much else.

More work done. I didn't like how the first set of tubes around the bed section turned out so off it came. I need to get some shock mounts made up and a rear body mount.
