I personally like my weight distribution as even as possible. Why go up something you can't come down.

Supposed to be a bomber trans. No reason why someone couldn't divorce it and put the trans up front and transfer in center

It uses the yeti trans and t case. All metal gears, 2 speed option with provided mounts on the right rock rail. Nobody really confirmed the price, but 370 for an rtr would be a pretty safe bet. |

I paid right at $400 for my RTR Honcho and a battery with tax...locally though. Sub $400 I'll be looking at this hard. But if axles can be had separately, I'll just build a rig with them using what's currently in my parts bin. Until everyone sorts the issues out anyway.

I can't wait to see one close up. I was 100% sure an Ascender would be my next rig. I'm not so sure now.

Hi-pinion design will most probably also carry full steel gears, due to the added strain on gear teeth. Wonder if this will easily accomplish different gears for overdrive... Very nice design though. Clever addition of oversize pinion bearing, considering the lateral load. |

I was thinking about the lateral load as well. It'll be a push/pull and would need appropriate bearings for reliability or change them regularly.

I like it, just not a fan of the body really. Not a big Jeep fan. Would love a Range Rover Classic body though |

I think this proves people will hype shit. Axial had 7 years to design a new and improved SCX10 and they come up with this? Womp, womp! It's a letdown at best. They obviously are not paying attention to the market. Everybody is building front motor trucks with divorced transfer cases like ToyZuki. Even HPI had this figured out before they went south. People are also downsizing parts and getting rid of weight so they can put it where they want. This is why that massive transmission makes absolutely no sense. Then there's the body. This body has been done to death in the RC world and 1:1 world. Most of us, except for the diehards, are sick of Jeeps. Axial needs to clean house and hire new engineers because this truck isn't good enough.

I wonder if Axial will discontinue the original SCX10 or produce both versions concurrently.

I like everything but the transmission. It looks far to complicated for what it does and then it hangs out the back to boot. Honestly I can understand why they didn't do a divorced set up like most of us wanted. Its hard to squeeze a transmission steering servo and a 6-cell Nimh over the front axle, that Axial would and should be expecting from a majority of their RTR sales.
