Driveshaft ticking sound.

Good evening. All of a sudden the truck started making some weird ticking noises coming from both driveshafts as you can see in the video below.

Its a bit hard to hear for me but it sounds more like a gear mesh noise, check it and see if its too tight. You want a bit of play between the gears for proper mesh, do a search if you need more info there should be lots on the subject.

Gear mesh, but also check your shaft angle's just in case.. are you overheating as well?

I had a similar noise, it was caused by a broken tooth on the spur gear...

The truck is brand new (6 days old) and I still haven't taken it outside so could it really be a spur gear issue? There are times when the truck moves and there is no such sound. Also the ticking can be heard mostly when moving backwards.

No overheating as the truck is brand new. Same goes for the shaft's angle. The ticking sound can be heard more when moving backwards.

Can you remove the spur cover and have a close listen? If possible take a photo up close of the mesh?

I'll do that after work. Could this sound be because of the gears being new? Like I said it's been a week since I got the truck and it hasn't gone outside for some crawling and trailing yet.

Could be they just didn't set the mesh well when they built it. That's my assumption for now! But, could be a hooky tooth on a gear. Having the cover off will (should) help no end with the diagnosis

Okay. Let's hope it's nothing major :p If it's not built the right way though how easy is it to rebuild?

Ok so i checked the spur and pinion gears. They seem to be in perfect condition and the way i saw them they don't seem to be too tight. I also removed the differential cover in case the gear touched the plastic but the problem wasn't there either. Then i noticed that every time the ticking sound is heard the drive shafts kinda move up about 1 mm besides the usual play that they do. Therefore i suppose that the issue is at the connection point between the shaft and the differential.

Do they jump at the diff end rather than gearbox end? That's an odd one and if so you may need to break the axle's down which won't be a massive task but also not a great one to do..
I noticed the spur and pinion weren't perfectly in line and although probably nothing to do with the noise would be something to do for OCDness!
Is there slight play between the two if you rock the spur back and forth? When setting the mesh you should try and test it through 360°.
Is it possible for you to get more light on the rig and run the transmission at minimum rpm and film from the transmission down to the diff?

It seems i was right. The moment i removed the drive shafts that ticking sound stopped. I think it came from diff end. However I broke them down, found nothing out of place or stripped, re-assembled, re-placed and still the same sound I have no clue what's making that noise! Maybe it will stop by using the car i don't know. Or maybe it's just the nature of the plastic material and it won't do the same sound if i change to steel or aluminum shafts. It's not a huge problem i mean it doesn't affect the driving experience. Nor will i be able to heart when running outside.
