Install Revo balls in the rod ends for a lot more travel out of them.

Trying the angled rod ends. ![]() They contact each other on compression and the lower moves around. So this is not a final solution either.... ![]() |

I've actually had more Jeeps than I should count. One was a nice 2000 XJ that was black.... But we ARE going with blue paint. We ARE! |

I like the fact that Axial went with bigger rod ends on the suspension links, but they are just too big for me in the steering department. That is not a nitpick against the kit. I think they will serve most people well. I just want something that is closer to the proportions from a 1:1. I know, there is no XJ D44 but even looking at a TJ D44 with a 3" axle tube (which would fit an XJ) the corresponding steering linkage is about 1/3 the size. So, for our AR44 we are downsizing the steering linkage. Here is the stock draglink vs. the new one. It's made up of one of our 60mm Threaded Pipe, a set ofTraxxas Rod Ends (the long ones) and some of our 2mm Spacers ![]() ![]() |

While installing the new links I noticed something. The CMS does not allow for full compression. ![]() With the passenger side compressed, the driverside will not go full cycle. ![]() This is something that we spent a lot of time working out with our Pro CMS kit for the original SCX10. Seems the diff is hitting the trackbar. That's one of the reasons we went with a threaded bar for our kit. I expect a lot of people to drop the suspension down similarly to the Wraith. So that is something we will have to work out for people wanting full suspension cycle. ![]() |

Swapped out to an 82mm Threaded Bar and it's better but still not perfect. ![]() Looks like there is room for a bent trackbar so I guess I will be going 1:1 XJ trackbar style. ![]() ![]() Comparison of stock, draglink and trackbar: ![]() |

Marked the 82mm bar for bending. I'm not saying this is a great idea for everyone (bending the link) but this is how prototypes start. ![]() ![]() |

Ended up bending a 90mm bar to leave room for the bends, though I suspect the 82 would have been fine as I ended up trimming the 90 and it was tight in the rod ends. The length you use would vary depending on your rod ends. ![]() Yeah, I think that has it... ![]() |

| ![]() Probably other ways around this and for most people the 82mm bar and Traxxas rod ends will give them sufficient travel. We are just particular about suspensions. Just have to see where things take us. ![]() Last edited by Locked Up; 06-06-2016 at 11:31 PM. |
