After upgrading so much on my Bomber, I am having a hard time not wanting to do a lot to my SCX10 II... but not because it needs it... only because RC Crawlers have caused a sickness in me that I want to throw money at them like crazy. I agree that this is a fantastic rig straight out of the box.
Exact same deal with me and its ridiculous. Im really missing the excitement of wondering what cool parts will be in the 1-3 boxes on my doorstep. Thats how it was last month for me with building up the bomber.

It's a sickness. I've got it too.

You're not the only one. Building/re-engineering them is as much fun for me as actually driving them, if not a little more so. I'd really, really like a Bomber and a Yeti-XL, but I have to keep reminding myself that that $350 kit will always turn into a $700+ build...(if I'm lucky)

Sorry, I missed this question. They're the Vanquish Method 105 wheels.

Very nice build. I am surprised I am saying this but I liked the looks of the GMade steelies on your rig better than the 105's. I love the 105's but man it looks right with the steel wheels.

I like both combos. I go back and forth. I've actually got a new wheel/tire pairing I hope to try out soon.

I just ordered some Game Steelies for my Xj. Got tired of not properly gluing tires. I like the look of them on the rig! I got the black ones though.

I'm a big fan of the GMade steelies. I run the black ones on my FJ Cruiser. I was worried about running a wheel that heavy on a CC-01, but I haven't seen any ill effects yet (*knock on wood*).

I took the XJ out for its first run of the year a couple of weekends ago. I still love it.

I made some inner wheel wells out of off-brand Cool Whip containers and Plastidip. They work pretty well. I made them a tad too narrow, so I've since extended them out a bit with some black foam sheets from the craft store. They're not quite as nice as the Knight Customs ones, but they'll do.

I also replaced the plastic balls for the lower links (the uppers seem to be holding up fine). While the new link ends are definitely beefier and less prone to breakage than the old ones, they do still stretch. I'll run them for a while longer, but at some point they'll need to be replaced.

Picture time!

Mind showing some pics? Was thinking of doing the same thing.

I'll try to get some pictures. They're similar to the ones I made for my Ford Courier build, but I used Plastidip instead of paint at the suggestion of redemon. I scuffed 'em up pretty good with sandpaper before spraying them, too. Seems to work better.

Not a great picture, but a maybe this will help. It's screwed in to the back of the shock tower. Also, leaky shock...

Just in case I die unexpectedly, I can't let that picture of my hack-job inner wheel wells be the way I'm remembered. Here are a couple of photos from when my son discovered that the pump track was his favorite place to play with tiny trucks.

Picked up some GMade hubs. I think they look pretty good with the Methods.

I'm looking to get a same motor as you have in your build. Any way you care to upload a run video? Some crawling and a few full speed runs. I'm sure a lot of people will benefit from it. Getting an idea what a 27kv in a scxii looks like. Much appreciated!

It's a fantastic all around motor in an SCX-10II. I even dropped a couple of teeth on the pinion and I have plenty of wheel speed on 3s.

I don't really have any video of the truck. I saw your post and tried to shoot some, but the light was really bad as I got out much later than usual. I'll see if any of the footage is salvageable.

I have, but I'm not completely sold on any of them yet. The stock plastic bumpers certainly impede approach and departure angles, but in most cases I can work around that on the trails. If I were competing with this truck, that would be another story.
