Nah, not really. Short course trucks all look the same and don't really belong here. None of them are to this level anyway. Simple interior made from cardboard or lexan.

I was going to say nice truck but the inanimate carbon rod avatar is much better.

The XJ now needs a scale rod to hold the door shut in order to be considered nice.

Consider it inanimate.

Into building it? Not many. Driving it? Many! It's such an excellently put together truck, literally nothing has broken, come loose or given me the least bit of trouble. A rock solid kit. Shocks... well, that's a different story. They're really leaky. And could definitely stand to be upgraded after a couple months with it.

What are you going to use for shocks?

Another +1 on that... Mine are extremely leaky.

If I'm honest, I've had reasonable success with Axial shocks, so maybe this is just human error this time around. Anyway, Pro-Line Powerstrokes are on order. I've had great success with those. I'm also trying out a set of Boom Racing Type G's on another SCX.

I had a set of powerstrokes (scalers) on a previous truck, I didn't care for them myself. Found the spring rates to not work for that truck and they leaked like crazy, I used green slime, Teflon tape, tried quite a few things. Just couldn't get mine to work. Hopefully you have better luck!!

I just mentioned in another thread that I just bought the 100mm HR internal spring shocks. They seem great so far and with 3 different internal springs with the set, you can custom tune for your rig. No oil also means no leaks

Interesting, haven't had much success with internally sprung shocks as I don't feel there's much way to adjust for rebound without the benefit of oil.

Initially, I thought that a external reservoir shock wouldn't do too much, and mostly thought it would be cosmetic, BUT, it does actually make a difference on rebound and compression. Surprisingly, these are some of the smoothest action I've seen in some time.

Initial impressions are good, and I think on heavier, larger trucks with the need for a lot of travel, these will be a good functioning shock. For quick rebound, I don't think these would be the best choice, but thanks to the three different weight springs for the main reservoir, there's a lot of adjustment to suit your truck. I'm running Pit Bull 33wt shock oil in a nearly stock Axial JK.

Pro-Line PowerStrokes have been "GOOD TO ME" and as with all shocks you may need to try other spring rates.

Since we're on the subject, aren't most rc shocks basically the same. When it comes down to it, they all have the same basic components. Once you start playing with oils springs, and o-rings, does it really matter which shock it is? In theory with the the correct combination of tuning techniques, you could get any shock to perform how you want. Am I the only one who has thought about this?

Agreed. Tuning is always the most important part of any shock.

Structure is all there and similar yes, but components and construction certainly play a big role, as does tuning. Some shocks just naturally hold oil better than others.

Tried an alternate wheel and tire combo, with much thanks to SuperShafty for making a 1.9 wheel, and letting me have a custom color combo. Loving this truck. And despite it's rather clean look, I took a page from bilinvic's book, and gave it a massive clean.
