Ok, I said initially I was going to go stock first on this rig. I have a difficult time with leaving everything stock as I build. I will say that I didnt mod much on this as I built it, but I did a little bit! I didnt use the stock wheels and tires as I am on the fence about their capability on my terrain. I also have not painted the body yet, this body is freakin huge compared to my other scx10 bodies! I used one of my bug bodies and front bumper with warn winch instead. I took a great deal of time and money to make my scx10's very capable and they are very capable crawlers and trail rigs. I am very pleasantly surprised that the scx10ii is just as capable out of the box as my original scx10 designed rigs that have quite a bit of time and money in them. I spent about 5 hours to get this rig together last night and ran it this morning. I was very surprised at how well it did first time out on the falken wild peak tires. The scx10ii rig climbed the test area as good as if not better than the scx10 rig with TSL's Each rig has the same motor, a 35t Holmes Hobbies torque master motor and the dynamite brushed ESC... The built in CMS works extremely well and did not require any tinkering by me, it worked perfect right out of the box. The biggest improvement has to be the axles. The original scx10 rigs I have always had issues with getting hung up by the large pumpkins on the axles, the scx10ii cleared these obstacles with no issues. I am going to retrofit my other scx10 based rigs to these axles eventually. I had no issues build the axles at all, smooth as butter when finished. I did notice there were a few instances where fastener placement could have been better, like the shock mounting...you have to put the bottom of the shock against the mount while screwing in the bolt, otherwise the shock bottom hits the chub and holds the bolt at an angle to the mounting hole.. I will probably do something about the sliders as they don quite line up right with the bug body, but not over concerned about it right now..I did move the front bumper in some after I took the pics, so its closer now to the body. Here are a few pics from yesterday and today... ![]() Last edited by allanon1965; 07-03-2016 at 10:35 AM. |

I will be swapping out the wild peaks for either TSL's or more Iroks...I think the KLR's would be too wide and too short for my liking on this rig... I am running a 4000 mah 40c 3s lipo from value hobby right now... I am also glad for the reduction of torque twist, in my opinion its been cut by about 75% as compared with my original scx10 rigs...kudos to axial for a job well done! Nice build. And I agree with the CMS working great and the absence of torque twist. I found the same to be true with mine. The bright red bug body really is cool and different. Great build on a great product.

Thanks!, i worked on getting the front axle and bumper more in line with what i want today, will get pics up soon. I also put on my motoworx wheels and tsl xl's today as well... I am contemplating getting another set of sliders and mounts to experiment with saddle pack battery and esc placement....

I have been busy at work but I did find some time to wire up some more lights on the baja scx10II...they are not the brightest around, but they are plenty bright at night. I also did rear tail lights for the hell of it... ![]() |

| ![]() made by duratrax, and extremely hard to come by now days...if I get one I usually have to buy the complete duratrax baja bug... but I am always on the look out for the bodies...they work very well on an scx10/scx10 II platform ![]() |

Well, more work done today as I fit in an interior from some rig I had laying around...might be HPI, not sure...turned out well I think... I also shortend up and adjusted the front bumper so it sat straighter with the winch and body, then added a small roll style rear bumper that still needs painted... ![]() |
