Default Making A SCX10 II RTR My Own.....

I started out with the same RTR as everybody else. I took it for a spin.. I noticed some pros and cons right away. The bottom links looked way to small for this jeep. So I got some 1/4 brake line and sleeved the links. Here's a link to how I did it...New look for the same ol' RTR links.....
Then I set to ordering stuff. I ordered a winch and controller. Some D-ring shackles front and rear, a lightbar ( that I put on today. pics below),and a motor nothing crazy just a run of the mill rebuildable 35T. I then traded around and got a nice AE-2 ESC. this way I can program it for better control. I'm going to get a body from a kit. And paint it up the way I want it. I never thought Id want to stay with the jeep body but it's grew on me...lol....So stay tuned they'll be more to come.
First run.

Before and after on links.

Lightbar..

I got my 3racing winch in over the weekend and hooked it up..Man should I have saved my money....LOL... I took the bottom mounting plate off. And mounted the winch right to the bumper. I took and cut the front off the bracket that the fairlead was on. I then drilled a couple holes and bolted that to the front of the bumper... I have D-ring shackles and another hook on the way.. Here's a couple pics.

Yeah I also got the 3racing winch and agree with you. Should have saved my money and got the warn winch. Other than that nice build

You can upgrade the motor on the 3Racing winch. The Warn, in my experience definitely isn't any more reliable.

Agree with the warn not being durable at all, but with the locked rc motor upgrade it is a lot better, I think with the 3m you can do there free spool kit as well.

Nothing wrong with the 3racing winch. I've run one for 2 years and competed in 4 comps with it. I currently run it off a cheap brushed esc on 3s. I mounted mine to the front bar also with an SSD fairlead.

Shaved the plastic fairlead off.

Fitted SSD one.

Mounted winch to the pre-drilled holes.

I got ahold of the place I got the winch from and sent them a video of what it's doing. They forwarded it to 3racing. So we'll see what's going to happen.

But on the build front. I have a new hook coming in today. We'll see how it looks tonight.

I would have loved to have done this. But I have problems with my hands and I wouldn't be able to pull it off.…lol

I got my new hook on today. I like it a lot. I think it's one of the more scale looking hooks. If I could have only got rid of the nut and bolt. I'll be looking it to a small rod and pin style setup for it..Here's a pic.

You could remove the bolt and just tie the cable directly to the hook?

I got in the D-ring shackles I ordered. IMHO they look killer. And very scale looking. Let me know what ya think of them and the build so far....

I have a set of those shackles. It's been my experience that they hang a little too low for me.
I love the red against a black bumper.

Here are the ones I prefer.

Edit: just noticed these are sold out right now at Hot Racing. I do see them available on the big site.

I looked at those but I don't like parts that have the brand all over them..
So I don't use those type parts unless I have to.....lol

I ended up painting it blue metallic and white backed with Spaz stix black. And I found out if you paint regular silver on something and then back it with the spaz stix black it turns "Black Chrome" or a smoky chrome. Look at the bed...I'm not done yet I got more pin stripe to put on and I'm going to give it a race truck treatment with sponsor decals And door numbers..There was a little bumper, and wheelll trig to get the body to fit right too.
