| Barbarian's Custom Dovetail Hilux SCX10 II
Bought the kit back in July which was initially built up as a STD SCX10 II. Running GMADE 101 tyres and Proline Denali beadlock rims. Electronics were Axial AE5 ESC. RC4WD 55T motor. Hitec 7955TG servo. Traxxas ID 5800mAh Lipo batteries. This was just after getting everything together and the electronics hooked up. First run in the garden. This is my first crawler and first RC in over 10 years. Really impressed with its capability right out of the box which I think seems to be something everyone agrees with. Ran it like this for a week to get used to running it. Only issues I had were one of the tyres didn't want to stay in place due to a couple of stripped threads on the rim which I fixed with some thread lock. Second issue was all four shocks were leaking badly. As per recommendations from here in rebuilt the shocks with green slime and PTFE tape on the threads and now everything seems good. More to come later where I will be showing off the new body and steel frame I've been working on... Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk |

Got lighting all working, and after much swearing for the roof rack installed. A few of the mounting screws just wouldnt bite so I ended up going with some longer hardware and then everything worked fine Then time for a quick run at a local trail. No overly challenging terrain bit the Jeep ran good with no issues. About 2 hours of constant running. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk Last edited by Barbarian; 10-07-2016 at 04:26 AM. |

Wasnt impressed with the stock tyres and was running cheap eBay beadlocks. Treated myself to Boom Racing Krait wheels as I love the look of them, quality is really good considering the price. Paired these with Pit Bull Rock Beasts After cutting the Bruiser body there was a bit of filler work required before getting it ready for paint. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk |

Looks great man, I'm trying to figure out which hardbody to go with and really love the hilux! So did you just hog the rear wheel well out to accommodate for the 1" longer wheelbase? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks for the kind words front and rear wheel wells have been made quite a bit bigger to give maximum clearance, coupled with the tapered fenders and bed I can get quite some articulation Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk |

So after finally getting everything ready on the new frame/body the next thing to do was change the shocks. Although my kit icon shocks actually weren't leaking oil at all I just wasn't impressed with their performance, also with the new angled rear shock mount points on the new frame I needed to run longer shocks on the rear to get even ride height. I've opted for the gmade piggybacks as I love the look of them and the adjustability will be a massive bonus. Only had time to get the 103mm rears on St the moment. Waiting for some time to build up the 93mm fronts. Overall impressions are amazing... such an improvement over the icon shocks I can't even describe. I will do a more in depth review once I've got them all installed and run them a bit more. Quick beach run... Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk |
