Hot Racing or not, heavy knuckles are still knuckles, ergo legal.

Ahh yes, only if I had that equipment... When watching one of SBG's youtube videos recently, imthatguy mentioned "Why not take it to the next level and throw a scale engine in your rig such as 22R or a 22RE for that matter for more powa!!" Not in those exact words, but you get the jist. Really a big inspiration to myself and I'm sure a lot of others.. This legendary engine from Toyota tgat Mr. Knight has designed I'm sure would look beautiful in that new Lc70 body as well. Looking foward to the finished product of this one, digging the keep it Vanquish motif minus the HR knuckles grrrr

"Provided they're legal for C2. If they aren't, I'll paint them silver so they blend in better for cheating."

Thank You for this, you made my day...

I think the knuckles are legal for class 2.

It's quite flexible, and since everything is hidden under a layer of lexan, I don't expect to be breaking things often.

Success! But I'm sad I can't cheat even a little bit.

Thanks very much sir. The goal this year is to get C2 to look as good as possible and keep it scale. A lot of people tend to NOT go that route for C2 and it makes me sad on the inside. Nothing says you can't get full scale points AND have a super-competitive truck.

Is there a latch or something that holds the hood down so that in a rollover the hood won't open up and break?

I use strong rare earth magnets to hold everything in place.

Notice how you can buy them just about anywhere? How rare are they actually?

I bought some SSD knuckle weights for the rear of one of my trucks for local events and was sad to know that I cant use them in "real" events.
So those knuckles seem like a good idea. Just need some weight for the rear of the vehicle.

The key word being "weights" that attach to the knuckle

I think they're pretty much all the same.

Yeah, rules are there to be bent. Weight in the rear doesn't concern me too much at this point. Axial did a good job balancing this truck out pretty well already. A little extra weight up front isn't going to throw that off a ton.

Exactly.

So, I spent the better part of today doing something I'd probably not recommend for C2. See below:

A lot of detail and referencing of photos went into the painting of these engine parts. I really wanted it to look the part when you lifted the hood. Anybody can buy a 3D printed engine, but not many will take the time to get the accuracy in order. It was a slow weekend for me, and I needed something to do in between Taco eating.

All mounted up in the engine hole.

James from Knight Customs did a spectacular job creating these bits. I definitely recommend picking one up for your next Toyota build. 22RE's for everyone!

Okay, so more mechanical stuff that doesn't really look like anything happened. BUT, I decided to try a droop suspension setup for this one. Bought some TRAXXAS (the fastest name in radio control) Big Bore shocks meant for something fast and silly. I fit some tiny springs INSIDE the shock body, under the cylinder to create a shock that compresses up, instead of down. So, long story short, the truck sits at it's lowest point possible and then when it hits a rock or whatever, the suspension cycles as the axle displaces down. I dunno. Comp. Had to do some conservative body trimming in order to not rub all the time. No biggie. Can't wait to try this out.

So very low.

One note, I had to drill out the top hole in the shock to fit the standard size ball ends that I had in my parts bin. I'm sure there's other, smarter ways to handle that, but meh. Me not smart.
